02 March, 2016
At least, 8GB of Galaxy S7's storage are occupied by the OS and the launcher.

              2. I connect only if I want to browse.
              3. I disabled all background data and set all Wifi that I use as mobile hotspot.
              4. I disabled all Google programs (apps) and other bloatwares. (Play Store too. I sideload programs.)
              5. My phone is not attached to any Google account.
              6. Ublock Origin addon is installed in my Firefox.
              7. I don't use cloud services. I use my local storages, and I backup my data on pendrives and DVD discs.

              What I'm going to do:
I'm going to root my phone and uninstall all Google apps, all bloatware. I'll install a firewall. In the firewall I'm going to block the internet access for all apps/programs except the Firefox browser.

              What I have/willl get:
100% privacy and security, no worries about the non-existent data plan and costs, more battery life (less battery usage), better performance when playing CPU intensive games (because no bloatwares running in the background).

It appears part of the idea is to use as much bandwith and gigabytes of data online as possible to increase the profits of ISPs exponentially. At the time of the 808 nokia, arguably still the best phone ever made, no UK reseller or ISP could be persuaded to stock it or sell it on lease, as they all do for these stupid app-hungry hi-res screens, simply because Symbian using Opera momi or even its own ap uses up your data at a fraction of the rate my G4 does. So I type this on an old Nokia N8 because it does exactly what the G4 does for 4 months that a high res screen using Android or Windows or iOS does in a single day with the same useage.
The solution is to get unlimited data, of course, but the cost is at least 4 times what I now pay on this M8 and the camera is better than the S7 because the sensor is so much larger, and its cost to me and the ecosphere so much less. Data transfers OTA are really powerhungry. You are holding a cause of global warming if you are reading this on a hi res screen, the hundreds of millions of you who do.

Is this why Samsung have no room for an FM RDS radio, or recordings made using it? I'm so happy with my G4, with its endles amounts of extra space, but I too wish apps and bloatware were all absent from all phones. If you can uninstall them they get automatically reinstalled every time you are online, scary as it DOE mean the machine dorsnt belong to you really at all, but to a self-serving sustem that also decides what improvements you can have in updates over which you also have no contro. If THEY want to degrade your raw or jpeg quality , or stop you recording radio or even TV, they can, and your improvement in an update can be an irreversible loss.
You chose the phone to have it, but now you cant have it any more.

Sheesh. Windows 10 Mobile uses only 3.5 GBs. Sure, it's not as complex or capable as Android and Samsung's skin, however, 8 GB vs 3.5? Sheesh.

It's funny: Nokia Symbian would fit on 256MB of a 512MB ROM, a little more with all the features the Nokia 808 had. How did we end up with such bloated coding that requires so much RAM?

Read the article and look at the picture. 32GB in reality means around 29GB. Then subtract 8GB of systemfiles and you are left with around 21GB. Additional non-removable bloatware around 5GB gives you 16+GB user-available storage left according to that picture. Maybe that particular S7-phone contains retail Demo-software not installed in the packaged gods - so lets say you left with 18+GB user-available internal storage. For the power-user the micro-SD option is a must.

Read the article again.after formating, your 64gb will be 58-59gb. So ios takes up less than 4gb according to you.
On the 64 gb s7 users will be left with 51gb
So dont include the formated memory as part as system memory dude.if i would do that then the s7 system takes up 13gb.but thats stupid.and formated memory takes up a lot less at 16/32gb,so your 55.7 apple example is plain wrong

With 64GB phones your left with around 55/56GB, my 64GB iphone 6s before i even loaded a single app onto it was 55.something Gb of free space so apple are guilty of it aswell and ios is supposed to be a light platform yet nothing is made of this.

Ohh really a lot, & well so thank God that Samsung re introduced the expandable storage, of the fantastic 200GB SD card, and so it was even a must, otherwise, generally speaking, the S7/edge would be useless. And so that would doesn't make sense to buy such an expensive "flagship" but can't store almost nothing in it

I never said anything about 3rd party applications. Things need to be installed for a smartphone to utilize all the hardware whereas on a PC many parts are optional. And all the services are preinstalled on a phone. If you take a look at pre-built computers from BestBuy, the main HDD has like 50GB already filled. It's not about what each devices "can do". It's about what each devices "need" to function. Smartphone needs a lot more things pre-installed for it to function. Hope you can understand the difference.
