Sony Xperia X and XA UK pre-orders kick off

Two of the three handsets in the newly unveiled Xperia X family are now up for grabs in the UK.

Marketing gone mad. "the xperia X performance won't be launched in the UK!" The uk is one of the top wealthiest countries globally and as a member of the EU, part of the worlds biggest economy. Why would you not sell you flagship device here. Maybe we can't handle the power - but then again Samsung, LG and HTC think we can. If I'm spending over £500 on a device, I want the best. I thought the advantages a high res camera delivers, would also make it an excellent phone to supply my team team at work for capturing site data, but not as a compromise elsewhere. Shame given I was such a Sony fan.

    And still the Sound and ringtones is negligible to hear... and for GOD's sake sony... The back light flash is supposed to match up.. even to the Chinese phones it doesn't stake up... A top of the range phone with no sound and no flash... Come on..
    Sony is loosing its fans by such price ranges. Its becoming difficult to justify..

Owned every Sony top end phone and every Z series phone but it is a pass for me. And I have not forgotten you by the way! Quit your sad trolling, this is not a copy of anything other than borrowing from its heritage the Z series, certainly nothing to do with the Huawei P9 WHICH IS NOT EVEN RELEASED YET! STFU troll.

In the future I would recommend you not to be so intense when you express your options, because as you can see, can understand other ideas, instead of the ones you want to express them.
              I know you like, personally, i appreciate any phone, regardless of which company we produce, if any required minimum options the consumer [I mean the normal people to head ..:) ..].
              And of course, if phone has a decent price respectively, that shall not be lifted (up) just based on the name of ... ... ....firm phone.

                    So the design was not copied and specs and technologies are differ also than what Sony copied from Huawei P9? o.O

                        IMO the best looking "cheap" phone. But i am going with the XP. Too bad i have to wait for a while now after i got rid of my very dissepointing lumia 950 XL. Never Lumia again.

                          Well lets look at it like this, Sony's market position in the mobile world is precarious at best, They would be better served undercutting their rivals in order to build a larger customer base. At £529.99 the X is in direct competition against the likes of the G5 and S7, and it just doesn't match up hardware wise, that's a painful fact for Sony fans to accept but it is a fact non the less.

                          Now the X Performance selling at that price would be very compelling, Sony sadly however have other plans.

                          The basic problem is here is that we have a solid & capable, yet mid-range device selling at a flagship grade price, and the only two manufacturers that can afford to pull that kind of stunt are Apple and Samsung, who in fact did try it with the Galaxy Alpha, which launched in the UK at I think also £529.99 (if not more) and didn't exactly set the sales world on fire.

                          Sony unfortunately are not in the position to take such chances.

                            I do agree that most of the phones are overpriced these days but you cant expect sony to sell their devices with more hardware and better quality for less than samsung or lg does...and in fact when you look at any midrange device from samsung be it A5(2016),A7(2016) or even A9(2016) xperia x is pretty good deal and value for money .

                              But if the A5 costs more than £250, it'll be over priced, if the A7 costs more than £400, it'll be over priced.

                              The Xperia X compares very favourably to both, in fact it's the better device in my opinion, but is still over priced, it's that's simple.

Top and bottom bezelss are NEEDED my friend not only for FRONT FACING STEREO SPEAKERS but also to alow better grip when holding phone in landscape so you can pur there your thumbs while watching videos or gaming(and if you didn't know xperia devices could be used in landscape for almost everything while Google added that feature recently xperia had it for years)

                                    To be clear, I wouldn't call myself a 'sympathiser' of the Z series. I appreciate the Z Compact range very much and think them to be in a league of their own, but have never thought enough of the standard Z series phones to use one as my personal device (I very briefly owned and I consider the Z5 Premium to be little more than an oversized, overblown gimmick. I have been repeadely attacked on this site for voicing these opinions, and am not in the mood to get into that again.

                                    My point is this, the X may be decent as far as hardware is concerned, but it is plainly clear that it is vastly over priced.
