Looks like a nice phone. Still no news about the launch date, or even when they will announce it (officially)? Because there has been a WES recently and it hasn't been mentionned.

I have tried many phones with mixed results.
Samsung when they work are great, with best sound quality and nice modern designs. Trouble is backup from maufacturer is nil and their winmo phones are unreliable.
HTC Desire is rubbish in my view simply because it fails to give decent call quality with no noise cancelling microphone.
Tried a Storm which worked but was expensive and deathly dull. It could do nothing more than any other phone.
Current X10, boring with out of date OS monocolour menues and not very clear sound.
Androids are intuitive to use and have many well functioning apps. But I find that once I have downloaded the app, it just sits there and I never use them. So current thinking is with the 9800 looking good, whether to revert to a basic phone. But I do need the OS to look cheerful, colourful and functional. Decent camera + flash important, as is call quality, screen clarity and email functionality.

            Any replies/ views?

im not a blackberry fan, but this might work well for them. not having sure press is a great move for them. having both a key pad and touch screen is a plus, it gives the public the best of both worlds. but lets see how thier mobile browser will work, if they revise thier mobile browser, add a 1ghz processor with at least 5.0 mega pixel cam with hd video recording and add some new features to thier blackberry messanger then they might have a chance to regain some support from the general public.

There's no way that this phone can compete against 90% of the smart touch-qwerty phones on the market. nokia and samsung will eat bb for breakfast in that game... the only thing bb has is the business apps/functionality--other than that, thier garbage (just an everyday beater phone)...
people who buy phones like this are business people who want to be able to say "look at me, now i can touch my screen too"... you'd be out of your mind to buy this as a sustitute for nokia n900, n97, moto droid, samsung giorgio, etc etc...
                  step back bb.

Need to see and play around w final build: could be a decent device if performance is increased.

for me, it's gonna be just perfect if this beauty came with :
                        1) Secondary' camera for Video Call ; and
                        2) TV-Out Connection

the rest? i believe that Blackberry is the most multi-tasked gadget I've ever had. e-mail, chats, social networking, music, capture, video, etc... and everything work simultaneously & flawlessly....

well, i don't really like into gaming.... he5x...

I currently use BB Bold 9000 and can't wait for this device. 5mp Cam, more memory, touchscreen & qwerty, plus i should think the usual music played with a decent speaker. I find BlackBerry so much more than just a business phone. This will be my next upgrade!

No i am officially going back to Symbian as soon as N8 hits the market with Symbian^3. At least Symbian menus make sense and have true smartphone purpose and is free to do and tweek whatever you want. Can't stand being tied down to this BIS nonsense from RIM/Blackberry and the masses of integrated half baked semi finished apps with the sense of development and effectiveness of a lab monkey. Symbian is untouchable, Blackberry OS is joke compared to Symbian.

ROFL, the geniuses complaining about BB OS & Symbian for their "lack of eye candy" (seriously, wtf, who the h*ll cares about eye cand?) never cease to amaze me. Go back to your kewl multimedia-devices that have battery-life of appr. 2 hours and leave serious BBs and Symbian-devices for those who appreciate their no-nonsense functionality.
