Instagram is going the way of Twitter, algorithm-based feed to replace chronology

15 March, 2016
Instagram decided it needed to shake things up in order to compete with other image sharing networks. The image sharing app has decided it is going to restructure the way that users see their feeds stating that “people miss on average 70% of their feeds….. This means you often don’t see the posts you might care about the most.”

What a stupid thing to add..
If you're seeing the same posts and nobody is posting photos then just follow more people.
If i'm gonna be shown the same people ill end up unfollowing them

Soon there will be an option to pay a small amount of money to make a post appear on more of you followers' timelines, just like in Facebook. They had to monetize the network, and this is one that they can spin as positive for the users.

it shall make me want to use instagram less. not as a protest but as when i use it i just scroll back seeing everything i want, not having a company tell me what they think i want to see. this is just meddling not progress.

digibane, 16 Mar 2016why are these company obsessed with wanting to show us what... moreprobably because a choice based delivery system means you can choose not to see all that juicy advertising that these network's customer's pay for you to see, algorithms mean the network controls what the product interacts with.

Remember: on free-to-use social networks the users aren't customers, advertisers are, and the users are the product.

Why would you follow someone who's posts won't even interest you that much? There wouldn't be an issue if people just followed who they really wanted to follow.
