LG's Friends for the G5 get priced in the UK

22 March, 2016
Back at MWC in February, LG announced some "Friends" alongside its G5 smartphone. These LG Friends are either modular accessories for the G5 itself, or standalone gadgets that supposedly work best in conjunction with the G5.

Way too expensive. Should have made these attachments cheap. Just to get the ball rolling. Then add way better and cooler stuff. The sound modular for that price should have included an awesome headphone set as well...

And this is part of the reason why I found it ludicrous whenever someone said the g5 is better than the s7 because it's modular.

The other part of the reason is that they're all gimmicky anyway.

the vr unit is overpriced, samsung one is half the price, plus you need to buy a compatible controller

at half the price of ps vr, makes that seem a bargain as you know what you getting with ps vr, full vr gaming experience and head mounted display for bluray

on the other hand, might as well get a cheap headset for mobile at around US$30/GBP20, essentially the same thing as this overpriced item

Anonymous, 22 Mar 2016I doubt any of these selling well.B&H has shown a much lower price on their CAM Plus. Since I will be buying one, you can rest assure, someone will have purchased at least one friend.

Not being audiophile i find it steep pricing and too much to ask for from an average user. Overpriced I would not say like way too much but it is. Other than this add-on only thing that makes sense to me is replaceable battery. LG doesn't shine much at marketing either

If image quality is decent from the 360 Cam, it's not that expensive.
We need afforadable 360 camera solutions, for it to become a thing.

But 2K capturing of a full 360 view is still a bit low, when combined with a "VR" headset that only shows so much of the view at the time. 4 cameras each recording 1080p and then some software to stitch it for a complete 360 experience would be much nicer, but that is probably just a matter of time.

The DAC is quite expensive and will probably not work with any future LG phones. But If you want a hifi mobile, it might be worth it. There are not a lot of other offerings.

However I have a DAC that works with both my Samsung and my Sony phone, over USB, as well as Bluetooth (with APTx support), and then also has a built in mic.
But it wont work with a handsfree over USB. I'm told that this should work with a handsfree.
And it's a much better integrated solution than having an external DAC.

If you look at the total package and forget that the DAC is an extra add on to the price, it's not that expensive for a Hifi-phone.

I'm impressed with the price of the camera. I wonder how much Samsung will sell theirs for.
