It's much more likely that they just wanted to market the phone at a lower price point to make it more attractive and sell more units. The fact that they're releasing this phone shows that they expect to make money. Again, if this wasn't the case, there would be no phone for us to talk about.

      It is the LG is getting weaker , opt to launch in south america , a more more anemic device means that it is bad tõ market that has no financial ability to launch Flagship top in other markets. This is a sign that no one is wanting more lg , and this LG5 is horrible !!!

            Consumers will be so pissed if they sell this variant at the same price as the sd820 one. I guess their market in china is non-existent anyway.

              Anonymous, 25 Mar 2016Almost there but not quite. I definitely agree though that ... moreMaybe he skipped the F for a typo since he did the math right:
              "qHD = 960 x 540px (quarter HD, 1080p / 4)"

                if this device is sd6xx then it must ... not should ... it Must have a price cut too, since it has way less power than the glorious sd820 .... well i fell disapointed because this means less power for latin america where i live ... it means ... no future update for my G2 wich seems will be stock in 5.0.2 plagged with wi-fi,camera speed and battery drainning issues ... mean while midrangers and older devices has 5.1.1 at least .. so for me not fair being this phone sd800 2g ram device ....... if i could upgreade to a phone it had to be G5 but i see that it is not possible due to processor is not that strong compared to competition.. ... lg forceme to move to samsung ...plus ....it is also unfair in my country that i cant import devicxes from usa .... dam situation.....

                  I love this underspecced version, i am not gamer, SD652, 3GB RAM, and FHD is better for me, if it get priced much lower than regular G5 with full G5 feature.

                      Peter-B, 25 Mar 2016As someone else said, this is capital "Q" QHD. QHD = 2,5... moreAlmost there but not quite. I definitely agree though that names can be confusing. And I see you might have confused FHD for HD. HD = 720p; Full HD (FHD) = 1080p; qHD is a quarter of an FHD (as opposed to HD which you stated)

                            sure it will be betterto have only 1080 in this variant!

                                The price will be the same as Samsung Galaxy S 7. That is. 1200 US dollars over here.

                                    i like this, with same body size, same screen but downgraded to 3GB/SD652 is good enough...instead they make a low end body format and specs they do almost the same, but i hope they have not half yhe price but 150/200$ less than SD820 one! if they i will buy it for sure!

                                    and i know why they do this instead to reduce the screen size and body: to modular acessories have the same compatibility with this like the powered G5!
