AnonD-515343, 30 Mar 2016Samsung is going downhill with these processor choices. The... more10 cores don't need more energy, that's wrong...
First, cortex A53 need maybe about 1/3 than big cores.
Second, all core can run together but they don't always run together : a sleeping core don't need energy.
If there's problem with energy and heating (maybe there isn't), it's more due to 20nm process than to the number of core.
Second, these big gpu on exynos and snapdragon have thermal problems.
Both 880mp12 and Adreno 530 seems to reduce power by a half with time (throttling).
Gfxbench show it on both : see my post below with link
880mp4 on Kirin 950 doesn't throttle...
On same screen, 880mp4 is about the same performances as Adreno 420 used on Galaxy note 4 with QHD before throttling...and will be twice when S805 throttle.
One other exemple : mt6752's maliT760mp2 runs better on 1920*1080 than Exynos's 760mp8 on QHD after 15 minutes...only 1.78x more pixels
If x20 doesn't throttle (we must see), most games will run well on it...how it goes on 20nm process is the key.
Reviews often forget Long Term performances, because high end soc on Android often have weakness on it

Samsung is going downhill with these processor choices. They already equipped the s7 and s7 edge with s820 and exynos 8890. The helio x20 and x25 are not even in their range. Deca
core(i wonder what the battery life would be) and look at the gpu mali-t880mp4. Like that's 1/3rd of the Exynos. How do you expect that GPU to run that 1440p screen

Fake
They are on there but some pages down, https://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench3/5783021
I
https://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench3/5792696
But they are fake, they are reporting as ARM MT6797
And not arm v8
And the Motherboard is being reported as the model number
100% fake, also Samsung never uses the same model number for a change of cpu

I think this is a s7 Neo type or s7 mini since its midrange type of processor.

Mirkran, 29 Mar 2016For your information, SD820, unlike 810, doesn't overheat. ... moreExynos is better than Snapdragon, well in the midranges area where Adreno 400 series doesn't quite match with the performance of their first batch of 64-bit Snapdragon 600 series. The fact that it doesn't have any virtual cores makes it quite sloppy in terms of managing it's graphic display on higher resolution screen, which mobile brands tend to use for midranges, compared to Exynos that use Mali's GPU with multiple cores and higher clockspeed. Theres not much differences of Snapdragon and Exynos in the flagship chipset but yes, Exynos is better in midrange devices.

If S7 really do go ahead with the mediatek, well they are not going to be the first. Don't you guys see that this a trend just started rhis year. LG and HTC is doing the same thing. As for me, i kinda like this strategy. Processors are getting way too powerfull, phones are getting more rams, so putting in a lessor processor and maintaing all other specs from the flagship model, thus making the phone slightly cheaper. I am sure so many people out there will buy the cheaper version. Its the same too in the car industry...

Mirkran, 29 Mar 2016For your information, SD820, unlike 810, doesn't overheat. ... moreMy previous comment wasn't accepted...
S820 doesn't throttle? According to gfxbench, that's wrong :
https://gfxbench.com/compare.jsp?benchmark=gfx40&did1=27178505&os1=Android&api1=gl&hwtype1=GPU&hwname1=Qualcomm+Adreno+%28TM%29+530&D2=Huawei+Mate+8+%28NXT-xxx%29
You must compare 2 things :
- T-Rex on-screen
- Long term performances
On a device that doesn't throttle both are the same.
Long term performances is a T-Rex test play on-screen 30 times.
On Qualcomm's S7 framerate is nearly divided by 2!!! (That's the case on Exynos gpu too)
Kirin 950 provide stable performance on second column
Speed tests shows that s820 is much slower compare to Apple A9, it's even slower than Exynos...7420!!! You can see it on Youtube.
Both Kirin 950 and Exynos 8890 provide mostly same speed than Apple A9.
We can talk about JavaScript and html5 weakness (on regular browsers like Chrome) of Kryo core too...

mendidz, 29 Mar 2016they should make it with mediatek helio x25,snapdragon 820,... moreSounds about right. How about they throw in an AX chip in the mix too? What a showdown that would be?

Mirkran, 29 Mar 2016For your information, SD820, unlike 810, doesn't overheat. ... moreExynos 8890 beats snapdragon 820 in multiple speed tests and geekbench 3 by 900 points! And it also has better battery life. Don't get me wrong snapdragon 820 is super slick but exynos 8890 is just better.

Mirkran, 29 Mar 2016For your information, SD820, unlike 810, doesn't overheat. ... moreThere have been multiple speed tests and battery tests and geekbench 3 tests in which the exynos version performs quite a bit better. You are right that there will be no more overheating especially with that liquid cooling (It actually keeps the temperature down 5 degrees compared to the s6) but exynos still rains supreme. But snapdragon is still super powerful.

Mirkran, 29 Mar 2016For your information, SD820, unlike 810, doesn't overheat. ... moreHmmm no throttling on s820? I'm not sure!
On Galaxy S7 (S820)
Gfxbench results :
T-rex on-screen : 52.4fps
Long term performances : 27.7fps...
It's the same test play 30x...
Nearly half the framerate!
Have you ever heard of throttling on S805? You don't! But it doesn't to!
If you want a soc that doesn't throttle, you must see Apple (I must admit even if I dislike them) or Kirin 950!

Anonymous, 29 Mar 2016Helio X20 may not beat the Snapdragon in performance but it... moreFor your information, SD820, unlike 810, doesn't overheat. It's true the X20 is cheaper, but SD820 offers a lot more.
And for all people who thinks Exynos is better than SD, stop it. Both of them offers flagship grade performance and the battery life difference is not that big between the two. The real gulity of the drop in battery life in the SD820 is the Adreno 530, which is not as power-efficient as the Mali inside the Exynos.

I really wait until Helio X30 is out, it will show some power. Think, deca core (4x 2.5GHz, 2x 2GHz, 2x 1.5GHz, 2x 1GHz) in 4 clusters, Mali T880 MP4 900Hz, support for 4GB or 6GB on 4x memory type, 16nm (most likely they change it to 10nm or 14nm), 1080p screen 60fps, and first phone to use it will be: ZOPO Speed 9 in 2017
