As you get further away from the image the ppi density goes down but the perceived image quality does not change.

G, 31 Mar 2016this comment is directed at the silly person above who said... moreMost the time i ignore these types of comments because they are people who have no clue about the changes in the Android OS since 2013 when major parts of the Android OS was rewritten (such as ART) that was the main cause of system lag. They just cant let go of something from 3 years ago now that real world performance is.just as good as ios and ios gets smoked in nearly all benchmark tests.

Anonymous, 31 Mar 2016Is it 720 PPI on both eyes or on just one eye?20/20 vision means 20 for each eye so yeah it is for both eyes.but one eye just just reduces you FOV and depth perception

[deleted post]because if you assume the width of an average 5 inch screen to be roughly 2.5 inches, that would mean 720*2.5 = 1800, which is still technically 2K.(from actual research sources).

harlekkin, 31 Mar 2016At the distance you're holding your phone, typically 25+cm,... moreThe absolute maximum that we will ever need on a smartphone for a person with the best eyesight is about 720PPI. Fine art printers aim for 720dpi.If you are worried, aim above 400 PPI and it’s hard to go wrong, unless you have 20/20 vision, in which case, you’ll need to wait until 4K makes it to your phone. It would seem that after that, there would literally be no point to increase phone resolution because if you assume the width of an average 5 inch screen to be roughly 2.5 inches, that would mean 720*2.5 = 1800, which is still technically 2K.(from actual research sources).

I have a feeling this phone will sell like a beast. Apple really made a smart move by keeping the 4" size alive with such a good hardware inside. Moreover, they just kept the 5s desing, which is also a super smart decision so all bumpers, cases and films can fit.

There are tons of people that still want small phones, and tons of other that are getting tired of phablets. I know a lot of people that plan to change theyr 5" or 5.5" phones to this one.
This phone's success may be a indication of a trend in terms of big screens/small screens.

We shall see. I'm looking forward to the review.
