You are holding your iPhone 4 the wrong way, you know!

25 June, 2010
Yesterday's iPhone 4 launch was full of surprises - dead-on-arrival, yellow spots or white dots on the screen, lost reception signal and a bunch of happy users. But while yellow spots will likely disappear...

Job new about it but he loved the design (can't blame him) so much he decided to ignore the problem and "sheep" it to customers like its not an issue

      dear steve jobs,
maybe it's your head that's screwed on the wrong way onto your neck.
which has caused a short circuit in your brain activity, the same way your spastic offspring 4 is synaptically challenged to perform the most basic function of a phone - to call and receive information.
just because you have rightfully redeemed the brand to an over-polished and hyped territory does not mean you get to trample on your own supporters like that. a king cannot reign over any land without his soldiers after all. and now you're pretty much implying that your soldiers are inept of even holding their arrows.
wait till they dart their arrows straight into the core of your rotten apple.

antenna loading effect when the body touches close to the slot. increasing the gain of the receiver Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) might do the tricks. signal bar drops due to the received signal strength indicator (RSSI)

God save iphone users after the update.

Apple just released the first three days sales figures for iPhone 4's.

                          1.7 million a new record.

Check the end of this post: http://goo.gl/IrUA

It shows that the issue also happens with a bumper and also compares the signal strength with the 3GS.

Looks like the signal dies even with a bumper on and the signal is always better on the 3GS even when the phone is not held!

=> apple has no idea on how to make phones!

Anonymous, 28 Jun 2010Just wait for the update ok. If it fixes the problem, then... moreOnly someone who doesn't know sh*t about electronics and RF would wait and hope that a software release will solve the problem CORRECTLY!!! Sure they might say that the signal loss will be less noticeable after the update, because your radio is on full power (brain tumors anyone?) and even the occasional scam in the bars to elude users by thinking that signal strength is up, but in the end, it will still be faulty.

Reminds me of a guy I knew that was asked to fix the problems in an assembly line and that kept triggering alarms in the control room. After analysing the problem, he came up with a solution 2 weeks later. At first everyone was pleased because no more alarms were fired :-D But then they noticed that despite the absence of alarms, the assembly line still wasn't working correctly?!?!

Result: the guy didn't fix the problems, he just removed from programming all the conditions that would make the alarms go off ;-)

And before you come back replying that this will solve the problem correctly, tell me why did Stevie tell everyone to hold your phone differently if there was a fix for the problem?

It's like buying a car and after taking a left turn your right wheel falls off, the carmaker tells you to avoid turning left and if you really need to turn left, do a 270º to your right! Sigh...

"Yellow spots likely to disappear" - seems like an admittion of fault. If Apple are adement it will disappear they should do this at their manufacturing plant and not expect the customer to fix the problem.
                                  Very shoddy.
