If you take the numbers that correspond to the alphabet with T+H+R+O+W+B+A+C+K you get LEICA. Come on man,... it`s so obvious you are a Leica fan, just replying everything to clear Leica name to later say several times that Leica has nothing to do with the hardware in the Huawei xDDD... are you afraid it's gonna be worse even with the future software attempts to make it at least as good as a Galaxy S5? hahaha good try Leicaback, ups, I say Throwback
Anyway, I agree with ALL OF YOU the photographs and video attempts are insane bad for a 2016 premium priced smartphone... It has nothing to do with social media, it has to do with being realistic, non Leica or Huawei fan.

If it looks good to you and to your audience then that's the one for you. I personally like these photos. It looks like photos taken from my film Leica. The B&W photos are fantastic but the color photos are ok. It could use a software update.

I would not use the P9 for professional use but for everyday social media it's more than adequate. A lot of people praise the S6.5 but I wouldn't use it for professional use either. Again, that wouldn't be right right tool for photography purposes. I mean what do you expect from a smartphone camera. Every phone out right now has a similar sized sensor and in fact a majority are Sony sensors so basically the only differentiation between smartphone companies is the software implementation.
From what I understand Leica had no physical part in creating this phone. It's not Leica glass or the Kodak sensor that they put in Leica cameras. If it did, this phone wouldn't be this cheap.

I think Huawei just needs to update the software to improve on the merging of the color information. The B&W photos look pretty amazing with the lack of AA filter. The color photos though, looks like it could do better.

Leicas aren't bought because it shoots the best photos. It's for the build quality and craftsmanship. With these small phone sensors, there's really not a lot you can do. Everything is about software implementation. A big majority of phones in the past 5 years have had the same/similar Sony sensor.
With that said, I don't really see the Leica craftsmanship in the Huawei which makes sense because they didn't build it. Sounds like Huawai was like "hey Leica, we're gonna build this phone with your name on it, is that OK? then Leica was like "Whatever, sure".

He clearly states it's good for a smartphone camera. These phone sensors are so tiny that it's useless to pixel peep on any photo taken with a smartphone. Smartphones aren't meant to take photos for anything bigger than around 4x6 at this point in time. You can't judge a photo for it's quality at the pixel level if you're just posting on social media.
I have an HTC One M9 which has probably one of the worst camera phone sensors but posting on social media, nobody would even know.

Yup more than 1080p is actually not required. Need to focus more on battery life, camera, performance and more important the price.

For everyones info the camera on the p9 can actually drop to f0.95 if the user knows what they are doing. F2.2 is the auto mode widest aperture. Also tested in low light next to s7 and pics uploaded to photo screen with very high res, with the correct settings the p9 can oblivarate the s7 in low light but the s7 has a better image in auto mode compared to the auto modeon the p9 I think the whole Iissue is that people are getting frustrated that they went out and bought the s7 spent a whole heap of money and now this p9 came out a lot cheaper and with the leica branding. Anyway from testing both phone caameras I believe the p9 has more potential with future updates as this camera set up has just come out and huawei will have regular checks and updates to make the camera better.

Its taken a long time for a company to work together with Leica since panasonic introduced leica in their lumix smartphone, unfortunately that phone was not what was at that time a great device. Now on the other hand Huawei has made all the possibilities available to the smartphone world with the Legendary Leica brand. A big pat on the back well done Huawei.

Smh, you know what after this comment I'm done with even reading what people have to say in the comments, nothing but competition other what phones better at taking photos blah blah blah, its really annoying having to see the word "Galaxy S7" or the way i call it, the "Galaxy S6.5" which is the real name in every fourm i visit,these photos are top notch yet there's always that "one" person to say negative things and spreading bad remarks about a phone that is in reality better then your boring uninnovative galaxy phone that never seems that have a different design and that breaks with just one drop pocket height,weak signal strength etc,those ugly edge phones from Samsung are even more prone to break, rather hav a flip phone then any Galaxy phone even if you give it to me, i would just sell it and rather have the money. I like any smartphone company besides Apple and Samsung, there are to many better phones out there then this Galaxy garbage that got invented, like this phone right here, the Huawei P9 is already the best phone for 2016 and you dead beats are to stubborn to accept that, trust me if Huawei P9 plus didn't have a fingerprint sensor, finger pressure touch,Lecia dual cameras and a fast processor then i wouldn't be saying its the best of 2016 but sorry pals, it really is...

Just a critical analysis concludes what all of you are saying. My pov, this quality of stills is from 5 years ago. The quality of video, like 2 or 3 years ago.
What a pitty, I was at a point to try with Huawei, thanks God people uploads real photos and video attempts with this phone, so I can deselect this option this year. The damage is a lot of people will buy this phone just because it says Leica on the packaging and spots but they will get owned instead. Poor them having paid around 700.
I will definitely wait for:
1) HTC 10 to see if this is less than a brick in volume and stands a "10" in battery-audio-photo-specs as it is said (it seems to be very big and fat)
2) Next HTC Nexus this 3Q 2016, to see if it is a HTC 10 fitted in a correct volume;
3) Next iPhone 7 just to see if it is much better than 6s, or if 6s goes down in price to take one.

huawei P9 still suffer from low light.. using f2.2 lense still far slower than samsung S7, G5 or even G4...
not having phase detect autofocus mean slower focus..
and without OIS,.. make this phone a lil bit useless in low light shot
true we cant expect more from camera phone..
but bringing big name of Leica.. seems like gimmick.
sure the black and white picture is awesome..
but faster lens and OIS is very useful for flagship this day..
just saying..
