It's more premium than the Kindle Voyage, more expensive too.

This is a joke of kindle, not only they said the voyage didn't sell cause of price tag was too high.
But then now, they did even up the price by 100$, which is crazy.

The merrier is the internal battery is 250mah, previous version was 1470 mah paperwhite 2
Kindle voyage 1320 mah. Lose your kindle outsourced battery to external and you have the battery of the size of a smartwatch YAY YAY (smartest move ever) (the magnet are also not strong enough imo

Kindle oasis : Cover 1290mah / main :250 mah.

It's delivered with an cover this is huge hahahah, how to take people for fool. does it justify the pricetag Absolutely NOT !
the dissymmetrical design make it as well less solid if the cover ain't on.

Wondering if the kindle taking the power on the external battery or keeping charging the internal battery which would be bad. If the internal battery die, does the kindle still work with the external battery (i doubt it highly)

[pro] :Gyroscope
smoother UI
button for page turn
more led, white more homogenous.

[con] : dissymmetrical design.
only +70 mah on the old paperwhite 1|2
prone to failure.
cover +kindle = 240 gr 8.4 oz `\\(paperwhite) lighter 205 gr without cover for same battery size.
kindle oasis without cover 131 (70gr less than paperwhite) 250 mah against 1470mah battery as well so.

i did want the next kindle so bad... well i'll pass again and stay with the paperwhite, i wasn't alot impress with quality of the voyage version so i thought purchasing the next one.
if i need to buy one will be the voyage in sale.

for that price they should give bigger screen size at least 8 in or 9.7 in is better. I have 2 kindles. 1st gen kindle touch and all new paperwhite. Eventhough the latest kindle is a huge improvement, still it is not an ideal gadget to read pdf format book. If they design a larger kindle just like oasis reference design, it would be ideal.

Anonymous, 13 Apr 2016Looks ridicilous, price way too high. Not even a bump in re... moreisn't six inches about the diagonal measurement of an large-average sized paperback? I imagine thats what they're going for, and people have been fine with that for decades

        Just one correction:
e-ink displays use FRONTLIGHT, it's a common misconception tho, but the display technology used on this type of displays reflects light, or absorbs it, but it doesn't let light pass trough it. LCDs are the later, LCDs allow light passage trough it, so they can use backlights, but e-ink doesn't pass light trough it, leaving only front light as an option.

They must be out of mind asking 300 USD for book reader. Though nowadays every company wants to become premium brand. Really silly practice. Considered technology and parts used, even the best book reader should never be above $100. Unless well... it's made out of gold.

Or, you could just download the Kindle app and save yourself a bunch of money. I understand the appeal but for the price I would think its smarter to just buy a cheap Android tablet and add a million times more functionality.

Looks ridicilous, price way too high. Not even a bump in resolution. 6 inch is too small. Color me unimpressed. And I was worried Id have an upgrade itch.

                Get a 6" phone instead :)
