dont know why people go mad over 3rd party UI, e.g. HTC sense, moto blur or shitty SE x10 interface ......

the main reason manuacturers are lazy/late/never update their phones is because it takes time/money to make sure their UI works with the new version.

i think android should say no to manufacturer UIs so when a new vesion is released it can be pushed to handsets very quickly.

But they should still leave the ability for people/manufacturers to install UIs as applications like launcher pro, ADW launcher ...

Anonymous, 02 Jul 2010have you tried the phone in your hand and in your pockets? ... moreUr opinion is a little bit selfish. I just said i dont like too big screen, i havent asked u to hate it. Look at apple iphone 4, it has been increased resoluition to 640 x 960 which is 4x than the olders, but apple still keep its screen size 3.5 inch. Apple doesnt think that bigger is better, but it find out that most people like a screen size that makes their phones elegant, not too giant. Can u imagine how ugly is it when ur phone almost equals to ur head when u make a call?More over, smaller screen has deeper pixel density.

the news if true is still a bit worrying.

Android really have to be on cheap devices as well, or Google will miss out on big markets... and the bigger the spread, the more apps, and more units.

I thought that 4 inch would be too large, but holding and "pocket-testing" devices like that i discovered that 4 inch isnt too much.I can reach the full display with my tumb, and it fits in pockets.

Not saying Im going to buy a 4< inch phone. But dont judge before you try.

But its entirely possible 4< inch mobiles are too big for you.
But its not too big for everyone.

For a mobile phone, it should be 3.2 inch to 3.7 inch, that's look nice with ur pocket and ur hand. Sometimes i 1 2 buy samsung galaxy s. I really love its spec. n features. But since it has too big screen, i have changed my mind and went for htc desire

Make a 4" 1280x720 Super AMOLED and the Retina screen has nothing going for it anymore.

I'd love to have all android phones to share the same UI - would make it easy to switch from Samsung to HTC and back. Currently every phone maker hopes you'll stay with their phones 4ever and instead of upgrading hardware they spend time playing with software, which leads to delays in OS version upgrades.

I vote for same UI on all phones by default and possibility for every user to install their own optional UI. Because I don't like Sense UI, don't want to buy it.

Most articles I've read on other sites on the 3.0 info leak state, in full or along the lines, "Google is planning a major user interface overhaul for Gingerbread to reduce the need for third-party user interface customizations."

So I don't think Google is actually going to disallow 3rd party UIs, rather they are looking to improve the default UI to make it more interesting for OEM adopters and less attractive for them to devote resources into bling-er UIs that are not necessarily better/more usable.

More devices sticking with the default UI makes pushing out updates easier too, I suppose. Of course this still depends on the level of support manufacturers are willing to apply to their products...
