Samsung Galaxy Beam hits Singapore shelves on 17 July

09 July, 2010
Is the rise of pico-projector phones starting? Samsung is having a second go at it with their Android-powered Samsung I8520 Galaxy Beam, which is going on sale in Singapore starting next Saturday...

I'd like to see more of these phone released in the U.S. Even the LG eXpo's projector module never really got distributed here despite all the promotions last winter

What I'm really waiting for is a smartphone with a laser pico projector like the AAXA L1 integrated into it, but it'll be a while before the cost of the lasers comes down enough that it doesn't end up doubling the cost of the phone.

As with all samsung/android phones: great hardware, crap
        software.
They should stop putting their own UI's on such good phones.

It certainly is very exciting times for mobile technology. But will this projector be of practical use? What lighting conditions will be needed?

I can see benefits galore, but is this just another toy with little use, like thw watch phones which have not made the mass markets.

I hate to admit this but,

Samsung with Android is really kicking Apple in the arse.

Samsung's crazy innovation with phones and features (just look, a PROJECTOR in a phone. And they only just released the Galaxy S), and the combination of Android OS. Wow.

What the heck, only 300 usd, that's cheap as, even without taxes included, look at the dumb faulty iPhone 4, which is 800 or so usd, and the beam kills it all over., projector, better camera, bigger screen, etc

We used to have different phones with different uses. Cameraphone, Media phone, pocket pc. Now it's all blurring together and advances in battery tech cannot keep up.

I definitely going to get this phone. It has advanced features and nice specs. It would be better with a 1ghz processor speed, a little disappointing here. With 1ghz, this phone will be the ultimate phone ever made.
