Rumor says Huawei Mate 9 will feature 20MP dual camera setup, Kirin 960 SoC

29 April, 2016
There was, however, no word on whether - like the P9 duo - Leica will have any role to play in the Mate 9 as well.

I hope not too, because that may lead to all kind of problems like(unstable performance, heat issue, force close apps, hang, lag...etc).

Any advancement is fine, until it will reach an overkill bracket. Will this happen with Mate 9? That remains to be seen. I hope Huawei is not gonna give in to the recent "numbers hype", like they did with 4K screens (according to the recent announcement).

At least their GPU doesn't overheat like Adreno 530. And it still pulls all the bells and whistles of any mobile game without a problem. Don't get stuck on benchmark numbers, they mean very little to the real life performance.

I'm not a fan of any brand but you just cannot make that kind of declaration knowing that competitors have yet to officially announce their flagships at the same time as the Mate 9 will be released (late of this year as well) along wit newer specs.

                                      1) Smartphones and their cameras CAN NEVER compare to actual stand alone cameras because of difference in Hardware Architecture
                                      2) Standalone cameras do NOT need dual camera setup because they have ample space for sensors unlike small cameras found in ANY mobile hardware
This is the same reason why small Digital Cameras can never be at par with the quality of those DSLRs. Albeit however, standalone digital cameras fare way better than smartphone camers because of space.
                                      3) Camera chipsets and firmwares (including OS and UI) are solely dedicated to post processing and sensor programs unlike Smartphone chipsets and OS

Despite the differences, yes, Smartphones CAN be at par with DSLRs.... that's IF you want the same chunk of size for your phone and a bigger memory (Android KitKat version for phone functions already utilized 2GB of ROM at minimum).

The reason why Nikon, Canon and other professional cameras don't have dual lenses is because they do not need them. DSLR cameras offset the traditional mobile phone camera problems (problematic low light photos, relatively slow shutter speeds etc) with: much, MUCH more complex photographic mechanisms, a LOT larger lenses, apertures, and in general much more advanced internal systems.

These systems are not used in mobile phone cameras for a variety of reasons. They're too complex, which in turn means they're too expensive. Also, size is an issue, and with size comes weight, which mobile phone users don't like too much because it makes using an otherwise mobile portable device too difficult.
