AnonD-345931, 04 May 2016Why spend 700-800$ on a smartphone, the major part of which... moreI'm really late here, but here goes anyway.
I'm not saying this to antagonize, but you seem to have a fundamental misunderstanding about why people run custom ROMs. Yes, many people use them to improve performance, but that's not all (as an aside, the fact that these ROMs are even capable of improving performance means the OEM screwed up - we should be getting all that the hardware is capable of out of the box). We might not like the UI or UX of the OEM provided ROM, or the bloatware, or the feature set, or maybe it's just too locked down - but we love the hardware, which is probably the closest match to what we're looking for, meaning we can't look at other devices whose UIs we might like more. It's all an effort to reduce the amount of compromise we have to deal with (compromise that shouldn't exist on devices we pay that much for in the first place). People like us don't buy devices for the software - we buy them for the hardware. It's the same reason people run Linux on machines that come with licensed copies of Windows. Unfortunately, we're such a niche market that no-one makes devices with us in mind (barring the Nexus line), so we have to settle for modding mass market devices.
As for a ROM that replicates the next flagship, plenty of those kinds do exist - I've just never seen any reason to run them, since they have almost all the problems I mentioned above; the only thing they do better is provide easy root access if you want it.

A friend of mine had the first one and was happy with it. Later he suggested the second one (sorry, don't remember its name) but my carrier didn't have it so I went with samsung. It's possible the same friend will buy the third one with pleasure. He says it's a gread manufacturer and a great phone.

I read all the comments that most of the people here Hate oneplus because it is from chinese manufacturer. The main thing is that like there are levels in a game similarly quality in china also has level. This is why HTC like smartphones are thought to not be made in china. Also even if the whole product is not from china there are some parts which are still chinese.

Many brands like xiomi or oneplus or lenovo and even moto have some or other part chinese.

          Iphones VS Android

You know what iphone will never provide you that kind of freedom which android can provide(even if it is the most cheapest and worst chinese phone )

Iphone is like somewhat like carrying hundreds of dollars in your pocket. If you loose your iphone it would be a serious hit to you and your budget.

One thing None of the present market chips can even think of challenging the SNAPDRAGON 820. not even apple A9 or whatever. whether it is performance or features. I SAY NONE.

          THE UPDATES

Now to tell many chinese smartphones have started providing updates from time to time.
Many companies show us the forecast and list the models getting updates. like lenovo and xiomi even one plus has the M update.

HOW THE HELL can you forget NEXUS series. the 6p was from Huwai a chinese brand. Nothing more to say "Intelligent people just Understood"

One plus three would be a great smartphone, i guess 4gb ram is sufficient for me .

I dont know that how will CM 13.0 do onOP3 but i guess after the controversial One plus two the company has learned its lesson and............. now it sleep time more things be told by me tmrw

If the 64GB version of either RAM variation is under $350 then I'll update my aging OPO for sure.

If you own a cheap phone, then using roms are ok. But if it's an expensive phone, then why would you choose a rom that common? If you're gonna use one, then at-least use one that replicates the next generation flagship of the respective manufacturer.

Anonymous, 03 May 2016You're the first guy I know not satisfied with Xiaomi mi4. ... moreTo the contrary - I liked it very much. Smooth, snappy, and looks and feels great. Wasn't my phone, I was just trying it out for a couple of weeks, so I couldn't keep it even if I wanted to. And I wouldn't want to, because it's made of glass, and I am not good with fragile things. Also, no SD card slot - that would be OK if it was the 64 gig version, but I still prefer having SD. Other than that, excellent device. All I'm saying is that it can't compare to the premium range of flagships.
My friend who lent it to me told me that it had a motherboard failure a while later. Not indicative of anything on its own, but I've always noticed that Chinese devices tend to have random failures more than mainstream ones; I may be wrong, but as de facto tech support to everyone I know, they approach me before giving it for service most of the time, and this is the trend I've noticed. Software is usually more unstable, too; Xiaomi is the exception to this, because they've had a lot of experience building ROMs. That's the one area where I think they stomp all over pretty much every other OEM, even mainstream ones.
