The latest three Samsung Galaxy S7 ads are a joy to watch

Gone is the tacky way that Samsung did its advertising, generally by mocking its competitors.

I would love to be a part of this community, create some posts, reviews and so on but...
I will not go into any conversation with uneducated, ignorant, utterly stupid people that can't write decent post or review.
Stop complaining at what you get and if not satisfied then build your smartphone to your own specification like we do.
Be creative instead of moaning like 3yo boy over different flavoured lolipop!

And Samsung had headphone jack and different coloured phones first. Their version of contactless payments is innovation anyway. And its not like Apple pay was the first of its type either. Get your head out of the gutter.

However, I am a true tech enthusiast and i sincerely believe that the current smartphone market is boring and in dire need of innovation to breath some fresh air or it will go the tablet way.

Gibby, 04 May 2016Your opinion of Samsung 'looking at Apple for inspiration' ... moreEuh no, you misread or misunderstand what innovation means according to me. What you defined as innovation is standard yearly must do upgrades. Innovation is doing something different. The last samsung innovation was the note edge with a useful side screen (aside from looking different, samsung and blackberry's current dual "edge" screen is actually worst than a standard flat screen as you lose some information when looking at the screen directly) and unfortunately, samsung abandoned the true side screen due to costs and low sales.

do you really think that when apple releases a new feature and samsung implements right away that it's really a coincidence? Apple pay, touch id, smartphone colors, headphone jack on the bottom, just to name the obvious ones that came right after apple releases it.

You might like the status quo in this era of smartphone, but some people like me prefers real innovation, and the g5 is closest to innovation as we get.

The G5 has an overall better camera. & that's a fact.
For me- I still prefer the S7/Edges camera that will open and auto focus faster so I don't miss the moment.
But if we're talking details, based on most reviews - bottom line - LG is better.

Mkdc, 04 May 2016If you like samsung pay, you can thank apple for once again... moreYour opinion of Samsung 'looking at Apple for inspiration' is misguided - especially considering Samsung r&d & manufacture a lot of their internal hardware (including the recent order of 100 million amoled Samsung screens which we'll be seeing on new iPhone software soon).
If you consider the definition of innovation is better user experience, I think it would be fair to say improvements in practical, every day features like screen, battery life, camera, performance etc would be applicable & this is precisely what Samsung have done. What's set them apart is they've used their r&d manufacturing prowess of the hardware to refine additional features such as the curved amoled screens & faster camera / focus speeds, port cover free water proofing, non discriminatory wireless phone payment system etc. That's what's setting them apart I.M.O. Same goes for LG who've tried really hard this year - some would say too hard!
The time of Apple getting away with just 'refinement' classed as 'innovation' is not fooling so many anymore because they're falling behind in the hardware and spec race & this is partly due to their own self imposed closed eco-system.

Fabulous adverts. I think we should all take a moment to appreciate these relatable campaigns with zero digs at other companies. I think this is the evolution of Samsung into a mature, responsible phone brand. Fingers crossed for updates, though.

Do you guys even know what that word means "innovation".
for what I understand that word means:
make a technology that's already there and make it more useful for the users.
when I read the comments here, I believe people are asking for a new invention for the phones not innovation as mostly are stating here.

Most people are very happy with the capabilities of them. Only one desperate are the companies who need to produce something marketable every year to impress the buyers. At this point, bringing the best user experience will be closest thing to innovation and what I have seen this year I cannot say are 'innovative' in the conventional sense.

You can't blame lg for trying and i respect lg for this. Smartphones are in desperate need of innovation and it's definitely not coming fast enough from apple's one conservative idea per year or samsung looking at apple for inspiration. Lg with its v10 and modular g5 design is the closest we get as "innovation" in the past 2-3 years

From the non fanboy point of view, the s7 is a refinement and correction of major mistakes from s6, it is a great smartphone but hard to differentiate from other 2016 android flagships. The only real impressive improvement from my perspective is the low light photos.

Everything i say below will mostly be based on professional reviewers and not fanboys opinions.

Camera? g5 has a better camera than s7 except in the low light category according to a comparison article in gsmarena. Display? In general, amoled offers better numbers but not everyone prefers amoled over lcd. Worse battery? True, but as long as it gets over the day, it's fine. You won't last two days without charging with the s7 so it's a daily thing to charge any smartphones. Samsung pay? Of course lg doesn't have it, it belongs to samsung. On a serious note, samsung wouldn't desperately need to give huge cash/incentives for people to use samsung pay if it was successful. Even the mighty apple is having trouble gaining tractions with apple pay. Removeable battery? Obviously, my comment wasn't to emphasize removeable battery's usefullness, it was just to question that other user's knowledge since s/he thought that waterproof was some sort of innovation within samsung even though it was released way back with s5.
