If they release a big enough battery pack then the internal 2600 mha battery will be ok. Especially since this phone is super thin. I really like the idea of adding onto the phone with extra modules. They might be able to make a project tango module with depth sensor and dual cameras, or make a IoT module with a Raspberry Pi or an Arduino Nano or something along those lines. That would be sweet.

An answer, for those from cave, who have no idea what are the differences between actual energy consumption of the phone and the screen size.
Only quality electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, transistors, etc. from a phone, give the highest consumption of energy at a rate of 80%. At the end comes the screen quality. LOL!!!

in a previous poll here at gsmarena was noted that only about ~25% of the customer prefer de 5.5"+ smartphones, so WHY motorola? WHY? would you make your flagship phone available only in phablet size?

Muthu, 09 May 2016I wish other OEMs follow the lead of Motorola. Just about r... moreSo you think a 5.5 inch QHD resolution screen phone with only 2,600mah battery capacity for the sake of thinness is an example of just the right specs? Probably why motorola is not a major manufacturer anymore...

Modular phones represent a new era of today. Bravo Motorola. Bravo LG.

xvi, 10 May 2016A 5.5" phone with those kind of bezels is just too big. Why... moreWith a phone so thin, they probably can't stack some of the components like others can and so result in the ugly piece of sh1t that is them.

And with drastically reduced battery capacity too.

A 5.5" phone with those kind of bezels is just too big. Why so much space below the screen? The side bezels aren't great for a large screen phone either. Both Motorola and LG have really lost their focus on screen to body ratio that they both had in 2013-2014.

while i agree that modular phones are innovative, i don't believe they will catch on in the near future. maybe in the next decade if the process becomes easier and advantageous for manufacturers, third-party companies, software programmers, etc.

5.5" and only 2600 mAh battery? Wow look at these fanboys

Not an Apple fan but there is a reason they generated 18 billion in profits last year: selling SMALL smartphones -convenience " on the road" - AND tablets -convenience at home-.

Except for the 4.7" (lower) midrange Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016) and the 4.6" Sony Xperia Z5 Compact there are NO small Android smartphones (yes Moto G gen 3 is also too big/thick).

                                  More big stuff here...surprise!
