Instagram changes its logo, updates the design of its apps

Instagram has announced a big update for its mobile apps today. This affects users on both Android and iOS, and the newest version of the app should have already been offered to you as an update in the iOS App Store or the Google Play Store.

I prefer the newer user experience and packaging of the product. Puts it among it's competitors (because I think it was lagging behind them, design wise) i.e. eyeEm, VSCO, etc.

        Basically its a nice move. Why we actually use Insta is for photos. Why I think this is a nice move because too much color distracts. Black n White UI will let you focus on photos only. Icon is great, a bit childish though. And its been very long we're waiting for some genuine update rather bug fixes.
        Overall, I welcome this change. Thank you Instagram.
        AND DONT GIVE THE UPDATE FOR iPhones INSTAGRAM

          just ugly, though i dont use instagram but its really making me think bad about companies like this, not following "material design policy" on android and adds stupid ios design. Everyone will hate this, including me. Thats a big mistake from instagram devs

            This is too much of an overhaul for my taste and not in a good way. It's just another generic icon easily lost in the sea of app icons in all app stores. Who in their right mind has made a decision to switch? The logo is non recognizable unlike the previous one. It's gonna be a pain in the butt to reproduce on any display media other than a screen. Too many colors, too complex. This must have been chosen by someone with absolutely no graphic design experience, at all!

              Help!

              Already updated the app. Tried uninstaling and reinstalling this app but no changes with the interface. Only thing that has changed is the icon. Huhu What seems to be the problem? Im using iPhone 6 plus updated to iOS 9.3.1

                    That logo is okay not so bad but too colourful background is just awful. Then the white interface is not okay. When you're scrolling at night in bed it will be a disaster of light. It would be better if instagram gives users option to choose what interface color they want. It'll be awesome.

                            Updated the Android app and got the new terrible-straight-from-iOS icon. No changes to the app itself. Still blue/charcoal UI.
