My HTC Desire doesn't have a problem with the way I hold it or lose signal except in deep valleys, tunnels etc, which is entirely natural.

From the moment they announced that the iphone 4 has an external antenna, I knew they were going to have problems.
Antennas should always be internal and at the top of the phone.
At the press conference a reporter told Steve that his BB 9700 doesn't loose signal when he grips is. Steve's answer was that it doesn't happen in any condition. The iphone (4, 3GS, 3G) looses signal in any condition when gripped. That is the problem!

not only is it a proven fact that skin contact with antenna distorts transmission of radio waves, it is also hazardous to your health (think microwave ovens), an apple a day does not keep the doctor away. An apple is more likely to lead to a slow and lingering death from a malignant tumor.

what apple did wrong in their whole press confrance was to point the finger to others, the negative is like: i admit i am a bully at school and I point out another kid is also a bully, so i am just like the others... two bad boys does not mean YOU ARE A GOOD BOY, just make you worst to the eyes of non apple fan boys!
