8 million or 10 million, well it's only in China! That all, end of story. Xiaomi cannot step foot into USA, Europe and Korea because they will get law until they die because of patents and copyrights. They have have Google play services as the communist state block Google. Even other products like MiTV, MiBox, MiHome Kit, Mi Soundbar don't make it into international markets due to laws, copyright and patents issue as China don't care about all these, their own brand, their own say in their homeland but once step outside, they have no choice at all.
As of other region with got Xiaomi, is like their dumping ground, newer model announced in China will not even reach those countries until 3 to 6 months later if only 1 or 2 colours options or storage option and price slightly higher than mainland China. Xiaomi with it product range in Singapore is a very good example.

and for all the most common smartphone use cases a bigger screen is better , especially for people who only own a smartphone (without a tablet or laptop)
