Google accidentally launches, then pulls Android Pay in UK

18 May, 2016
Just last week, there were reports that Android Pay's UK launch is imminent. And earlier today, the mobile payments service actually started rolling out in the country, with the official Android Twitter account saying, "Download #AndroidPay today from @GooglePlay. Now available in the UK."

I do not know how these work and what system they're running on, and since both Apple and Android use NFC to make contactless payments, I'm sure it'd be possible to accept both at the same terminals. The question is, (rhetorical!) would Apple allow the terminal makers to run/accept other methods... That'd be nice though, as there are quiet a lot of Apple Pay terminals where I live.

oh come on Barclays Bank again? Great so this means we will be waiting for then next 9-12 month before barclays decide to bring it to their bank. same with what they did with apple pay now android pay. Great. This sucks big time.

It's available in the UK already, at least I got it on my Sony Z5. One question though...Can Apple Pay terminals accept Android Pay, or would it not, as the overall system is not optimised/compatible for that, just yet?
