Wow, lots of iPhone haters here. Open your eyes: the iPhone has changed the mobile phone industry, everyone wants one. If you want to stick to phones with archaic software and plastic keyboards, be my guest. But, again, open your eyes...

Reality distortion field (RDF) is a term coined by Bud Tribble at Apple Computers in 1981, to describe it's effect on Nerds. Later the term has also been used to refer to perceptions of his keynote (or Stevenote) by observers and devoted users of any products apart from Apples'
Bud Tribble claimed that the term came from Star Trek.
In essence, RDF is the idea that nerds are able to convince themsevles and others to believe almost any bad rumours or conspiracy theories made up about Apple. RDF is said to distort an audience's sense of proportion or scales. Small advances are accused as copying. Interesting developments become faults, or huge leaps backwards. Snap judgments about technical merits without any facts available are usually utilised. Those who use the term RDF contend that it is not an example of outright deception but more a case of warping the powers of judgment. The term "audience" may refer to an individual who a rival company is hoping to affect.
The term was assumed by a few nerds to be a derogatory remark, to criticize Apple's products and its more enthusiastic fans, but this is just a fallacy made up by the nerds themselves, who, envious of the media coverage and popularity of Apple's products, unknowingly became victim to RDF themselves.
The term has extended in fanboydom to other phone owners and fanboys, who try to convince people that Apple is evil, and that the huge success of its products is irrelevent, sometimes without regard to the overall facts in question.
Success breeds contempt.

Apple are (probably unintentinally) mocking their own product in that article. assuming that all the phones were tested in the same place, the iphone 3g had less signal than most of the other phones to start with! Fail, the 3g may be getting old, but that article is implying that the antannea is weaker on the iphone 3g. actually, I wouldn't ever have thought that they would've tested the 3g in the first place. Never accept mistakes, just shift the blame, 'tis the apple way.

Sjoerd, 23 Jul 2010maybe wearing gloves for warmer hands and a better reception?Nope. Then they wouldn't be able to operate the phone. Capacitive touch screen = fingers only. No gloves. Hey, how about some keys for the iPhone 5?

cause apple does keep tabs everyone
even RIM,samsung,motorola,htc and nokia
you can tell by the antenna demo

Whats the use of a 1000usd 9mm mobile whose manufacturer recognises its uselessness without a cheap 12mm rubber bumper and a 6 foot antennae? Its about time they made a museum for epic fails.
