Anyway, tegra k1(Denver)'s forte is onto gaming(GPU) but holding on its own in CPU-bound tasks. Being a hybrid ARM/NVIDIA microcode, I am not surprised by tegra k1(Denver)'s inconsistencies in CPU. It was never meant to be an overall chip.

I absolutely agree that the Nexus 9 was too pricey when it was first released, and the high price tag more than likely had some negative impact on the N9's sales . . . . HOWEVER, this past December I snagged a 32GB Nexus 9 LTE for $250, brand new, in the box, and let me say that it's the best tablet I have ever owned, and I've owned both N7's, a Galaxy Tab 4, iPad Air, and a few others!! I'm aware of the sub-par quality control (I've seen a few N9's with BAD backlight leakage around the LCD edges, and I've heard about some N9's with bad battery performance), but I am pretty sure that N9's manufactured after 2/2015 are free of those defects (you can check your device's "manufactured-on date" in terminal emulator by checking the binning of your CPU, then use the second string after your device ID for the month and year your device was born. And no, that's NOT the SoC born date, that's the first string, after the SN+##9LTE, or SN+##9NRI for non-LTE N9's).
Mine is PERFECT, and I've always been a fan of what Nvidia can do with SoC design. The only devices benching higher than my N9 right now are the S7, Mi5, G5, HTC 10, and the other SD820 powered devices (and yes, the Exynos 8890 has my N9 beat as well). With the right file system optimizations, a stable and efficient kernel, and a stable, solid ROM, I'm consistently at 118K to 122K on Antutu. And if you're one of those folks who think benchmarks don't represent "real world performance", then feel free to use my N9 for a day, then you'll see what's up. The Nvidia Tegra K1 Denver ties with or beats Apple's Twister in several single-core benches, AND IT WAS RELEASED IN 2014!! Not to mention is smokes the S6 and S6 Edge, and both of those devices have 6 MORE CORES THAN THE N9!! Why Nvidia decided to get out of the SoC game, I'll never understand.
Bottom line, my N9 is amazing, zero issues, GREAT battery life, no backlight leak, no overheating, zero random reboots, and I'm running a kernel that supports USB Fast Charging (ElementalX v4.12), so I can charge 20% to 70% in about 30-45 minutes with no overheating.
Guess I got one of the good ones :-)

It flopped because it bucked the trends that Nexus initially set - high specs, low price. This was too expensive from the outset. I still have my N7 and would like an upgrade to another Nexus, but can't justify the price of $500+ just for an Android tablet.

Samsung tablets also do hand writing, word/excel editing (hancomm office for samsung), multiwindow , painting, book reading (300ppi screens are excellent for reading).
Nexus tablets are nerfed because Google wants to peddle their awful chrome books.

Good riddance. 2GB of ram on a tablet? Never again. I had to basically open every next app anew, no memory retention at all. Bye bye tablet that you were created such to make chrome books more popular....

I have it. My unit has nothing wrong with built quality. Actually its stellar.
Its specs are also great. Its 2 GB of RAM proove that there are not needed any more in Android today. It gets heated soon and quite a lot under the camera, but it does not throttle like all the 810 flagships, at all. Its huge NVIDIA GPU plays everything at ultra in 2k.
Its enormous GPU also gives a lesson why bigger is better.
Where the tablet really suffer is at software, its early ROMS suffered from unexplainable terrible lags, even at minimal usage. Twice i was ready to sell it for that, but kept it due to its 4:3 format that accomadates reading and has no viable alternative in android OS.
And luckily the Marshamallow update has worked wonders on it. It is now super fast without any hickups.
And as i enrolled in the N Beta program that works even better (apart from the combo of Opera browser and the new keyboard) it is the very first time that i feel excited for owning a Nexus!
To my understandment, it was bad coding and drivers reasons in its early software builts that caused most of its reasons. They forbidden it to show its potential.
The specs are stellar and unique, with its strong spot being the fantastic HTC level sound, both at esternal speakers and headset input, whilst the weakspot being the light leaking of the sreen, which is great though and extremely color accurate.
Unlike the Asus nexus devices the are no cracks and squishes, yet the metal frame around it doesnt make flatter it self as one would expect and can only be noticed from the ones who already know of its existence. It doesnt look bad, just like a genuine Nexus, one that could hardly justify its early price tag though, with a little patience though, if one got it later on, with very acceptable fees and the improved performance, he had a completely different experience!

I'd choose Android over iphone anytime
But when it comes to tablets, I've tried windows, android and ipads. I'd take the ipad.. true not too much ipad optimised apps but still better
