Lol what is wrong with using android OS by meego or ex-nokia employees? Why create an OS now? when you're just establishing a "new" brand?

I owned a cyan colored N... moreIf the software worked ok on a basic chipset around 5-6years back with very primitive technology and almost a basic chipset TI OMAP 3630 single core 1.0 GHz Cortex A8 And PowerVR SGX530 gpu and 1gb of ram I think the Snapdragon 212 with 4core 1.3Ghz Cortex-A7 cores and Adreno 304 Gpu with 1gb of ram is more than enough to run this refined os smoothly unlike Android...
Further if this chip can run Windows 10 smoothly with 1gb ram Sailfish os will be a blaze I think you have never used sailfish it doesn't need great hardware to run smoothly the main moto of this company is to make a software which can run smoothly on basic hardware
Hardware is just numbers to woo people into buying something new everyone is doing it hence every other company wants to come up with something better...
For an optimized os like ios, Windows or sailfish hardware is not the main thing as they are polished
Now because of Android oems launching quad core, octacores and decacores with 4-6gb ram even the like of Windows and apple are jumping on the specs bandwagon but in reality ios runs smoothly on my 6s with a dual core chip and 2gb of ram

I owned a cyan colored N9 long ago and that phone lagged and stuttered a lot. Especially when you recieve messages while doing other tasks on the phone. This happened even when I closed all the running apps. And that phone was really slow even when compared to similarly equipped android phones in its time. Its UI had potential, but the optimization was just not there. And stop with that no need for higher hardware nonsense. Software will always improve so you need to make futureproof hardware for it from the start.

AnonD-492202, 27 May 2016Microsoft can be competitor with just slight changes in OS ... moreEither that or they should have spent the billions on a devices' (yes plural) line complete with total vertical integration; own SoC, CPU, GPU along with peripheral functions such as modem, radio etc on top of blanketing the globe with their own ecosystem's infra to counter both Apple's and Google's. And then add a secure backend, drive the final nail to Blackberry that way. All they gotta do then is not again repeat any of Blackberry's blunders like getting out overpriced middling phones as a negative offset.
3rd apps' support is a must so dev devices should also be on the cards that's compelling enough to ante on say Nexus or Pixel. Do this and with the right incentives in place for devs, then they'll warm up to the idea to key stuff into a walled garden.

Sailfish Os doesn't need octacore processors and 4-6gb of ram to run smoothly it can run on basic specs remember the specs the N9 had and with Meego os it ran smooth and flawless Sailfish is just a refined version of Meego

With component prices going down, lightweight OSs are not as attractive as before. It's unlikely that they can pull the crowd away from Android. That wasn't the case few years though. Too late to the party?
