I wish there actually was an update, but I am beginning to feel like this is similar to the 23rd June HOAX. If anyone ever actually read that carefully, you'd notice some really really really stupid spelling mistakes that proper customer service would not make.

I have noticed that people further down in this post have made this kind of thing up as well, as punctuation mistakes have been made that would not be a re-typing error.

I sent an email to HTC myself to clarify this, and I was told that there is no official date of release yet, but that the update would start some time in the next month or so.

I am not saying that we won't be tasting the sweet froyo goodness soon, I'm just saying that people should not get carried away.

sorry to be a wet blanket.

None-the-less, I hope that for some unknown reason that I'll wake up and the OTA message will be displayed on my screen. Alas, this is against all reason, but to hell with it! I WANT MY FROYO.

(proud owner of a Desire =)

Some more info regarding the release for the UK quote "some other parts of the world have received the update" but where is the question? This was me thanking her for the first email.

          Dear xxxxxx,

Thank you for contacting HTC That’s OK, if you need any further help just reply to this email and I will respond as quickly as I can. We have had a few emails regarding this, there has been nothing confirmed from HTC for the UK and the update for the Desire, it has been released in some other parts of the world so there may have been some confusion from the makers of the website/forum posters. The best website to keep an eye on regarding when the update will be our one or you could follow us on Facebook or Twitter as we keep these channels up to date too. Hope this has helped. Yes nokia phones will sound the alarm even if the phone is switched off. So much for the "outdated and buggy" symbian.
And the E-series can last 2days when used to the core.
right now i will only give android the thumbs up because full flash support is implemented.
Only if the Desire had the looks of the Legend or N1.
the buttons on the desire makes it look tacky :-(

Anonymous, 31 Jul 2010WOW, so clever, you've just described ALL modern smartphone... moreDid someone harm your precious Desire? Are you not open for criticism on your little HTC toy? And Im clearly a smartphone user, and ive been that for the last 4 years. Every Nokia N/E series ive had does turn on if the alarm is set before the phones is off, which is in my eyes a normal feature for every phone, smartphone or not.

Regarding the loudness on the speaker itself is more than good, but the OS lets the ringtone turn itself lower even if its set in the settings which is really annoying! Unnecessary to check the phone all the time to see if ive got a sms/call.

The camera is there only for business purposes and facebook? You gotta be kidding me? I knew before I bought it that it wasnt a cam phone, but still it sucks compared to other phones.. Even Nokia N95 took better pics!

On the other hand, the phone is the best phone ive been using to surf on the internet, has a really awesome screen and I like the apps functionality. Wish it only could change those small things (which is important for me) so it could be a killer OS.
