To be frank, the new WIndows OS has improved a lot. Hence I can say that the Zenbook 3 is better in term of performance.
Apart from that the device comes bundled with the 7th Gen Core i7 processor and a 8GB/16GB ram variant. Overall i feel the device is good for daily usage. (Saying it because i am using it)

The difference in performance between mac os x and windows is only in memeory usage.
mac are better
otherwise trust me a device with a 8GB and Core 2 due and windows 10 will also run smoothly.

I had a mid 2010 MacBook white with Intel core 2 duo, 8gb DDR2 Ram, 320GB HDD, running El Capitan smooth as butter. It takes a while to boot up (about 47 secs) true but then its a joy to use. A 6 year old laptop with similar specs does not run the same to say the least.

The OS has some very good applications that just aren't available on Windows. Sketch, Framer Studio, and Astropad, just to name a few, aside from the usual multimedia apps. Plus, you can develop for both Android AND iOS. Also, even if you hate OS X that much, you can always run Windows via bootcamp.
Craftsmanship has never been gimmicky. It's the difference between either your device could last up to 5 years or just started to break apart at 2.
I, personally wouldn't easily leave Windows since I'm a gamer. But I can see why some people prefer OS X.

Well not that fast ... I still cannot hate my Samsung NP900x3f .. which is nearly 4 years old. That said don't forget there is not only pathetic macbook 12 to fight.. what about Samsung 12.2 (Ativ book 9) which has better screen to body ration, better resolution and as well is just as thin ... and it is now nearly years old.. hence much cheaper than just released Asus...

While what it looks like is important, whoever wants OS X will not consider this machine. Some programs just run better on a mac.

IMO, people who would like to buy macbook instead of Asus zenbook just for the sake of an apple product are apple fanboys no doubt. anybody who would like a premium windows notebook will go for zenbook 3. I recently bought a thinkpad paying more than a macbook pro cause I needed windows. all the apple fanboys craving about the craftsmanship of apple. Surely they have but other big companies can make nice computers as well if they want to. There are clear differences between windows and mac os. come on, not everyone fall for this gimicky craftsmanship or good look. People have other stuff to consider.

apart from the trackpad and may be the screen....macbook loses in all aspects compared to zenbook 3.
