AnonD-119121, 01 Jun 2016Use bluetooth earphone or any bluetooth audio contectivity.... moreHa, whatever. Do you charge your phone because you enjoy it or because you have to? Exactly. Given the choice of a device that requires charging (or even battery replacement for that matter) versus the same performance from a device that does NOT have that kind of dependency, I prefer the latter. Maybe you like to worry if your headset battery is low, but I submit that most people are not ready to worry about that yet.

Anonymous, 01 Jun 2016actually charging while having earphones on is not good, ma... morePlaying audio is so light its not relevant to this. Its only when you do something intensive that abnormally overheats your device that its 'rumoured' to hurt your battery. I don't think there's ever been any proper testing of that either though.

Buy another accessory or replace your headphones! Yay! Thanks Apple! Thank you for innovating more ways for people to waste money when they really shouldn't have to! Why pay £10 for an MHL adaptor when you can pay £39 for a lightning to HDMI adaptor? Why use the headphones you know and love when you can spend a fortune on a new set with a lightning cable? Wooooooooooo!

So yeah, as I said many times this move of removing Jack Port is ldiotic.
Not only in terms of thickness of phone(you can have 5-6mm device with that port) but also in terms of Audio Quality, Port is not a problem here, its all depend on audio decoding and most important, headphones. I can give you headphones with minijack3.5 port that would blow any Lighting/usb-c models you can find.
So this move is nothing more than another jump for money. And sadly, people gonna catch that bait and pay more money for another useless "invention"

Anonymous, 01 Jun 2016actually charging while having earphones on is not good, ma... moreIt's only about headphones. We have portable speakers, aux cables for when you play in the car. Another of my issues is battery consumption, charging multiple devices, carrying multiple devices like this adapter cable and let's face it some music apps are not so keen of giving the equaliser to Bluetooth devices.
Take my Redmi 2's music player for an example.
I feel apple is gambling with this move big time. They could be starting a trend or create a total flop.

Good next iPhone 7s will ditch the lightning altogether.. No ports at all and Apple will force users to buy proprietary wireless chargers.. Which will cost a whole lot more than a just a proprietary cable.. Good business

Reminds me of 2006 when phones had mp3 players but the 3.5 mm jack didn't come standard. I wonder how long before other OEMs follow suit.

Indirect way of apple letting the iphone users use their Bluetooth headsets.
It would be such a hassle thing to plug two accessories on the phone at the same time. "a not-so smart move".
