symbian is an absolute sluggish OS.and nokia takes no measures to make superior hardware phones.even their flagship models are terribly slow.n8 browser as seen in the final release shows checker boxes when you zoom in/out.android attracts more developers nowadays,as was the case of iOS.

Android + SuperAmoled Screen + 1Ghz Hummingbird processor(the best there is) + web Flash = best smartphone (Galaxy S).

I want to see Android in Nokia's in the future. Nokia is a strong supporter of open platforms. Why don't you guys support the green guy? Android is free and it would be only wise if Nokia adopts Android. Nokia - Android...what a bliss!!!

Did you hear that. Nokia still rules & will always rule.
Although I just got a HTC Android phone, but that's diff story all together, Nokia will still always remain my Primary Phone.
BTW wherez the IPhone and where are the freaking IFans. I guess they are buy with Mr Jobs trying to squeeze some stuff.
The IPhone 4 is a Joke, dump the IP3 and get the Nokia N8, even Mr Jobs has pre-ordered it. Or incase you want something in Android, get HTC you would not regret it.

The way I see it.. Android is part business and part toy, Winmo is pure business, IOS is pure toy while Symbian is an antique and should be on display in museums. LOL!

A smartphone refers to a phone that runs a Operating system which allows users to install and run application that can make full use of the hardware capabilities of the phone and increase the functional features of the phone.
Java applications don't count as they cannot use the the phones hardware at a deep level.
The 5230, and any Symbian device, runs applications (in .sis installer format, Qt, and some other languages). This is something those phone you mentioned can not do.
The Nokia s40 series feature phones complete in that market.

I have always been curios, why _every_ Symbian phone is "smartphone", yet some cool-enough feature phones (Samsung 5230, LG Cookie) are not?
Nokia's 5230 is definitely not full-blown smartphone, as are not Samsung 5230, LG Cookie, etc., yet only based on shear numbers of truly feature-phone shipments, Nokia holds "smartphone crown"; so - it is not earned to my mind.

Apple iphone is the most impressive. With only 1 phone, it's able to be a top player among other phonemakers with multiple devices released in a quarter.
