ZOPO Speed 8 review

05 June, 2016
Well, the ZOPO Speed 8 finally made it to the office. No, not ringing a bell? Well, we can't really act too surprised. But, if you have heard of the Speed 8, chances are that you know it as the first officially launched MediaTek Helio X20 device, or in other words, it has a whopping 10 CPU cores at its disposal.

At the hardware level is a very good device, but at the software level are innumerable bugs. The device even if you set a screen lock with code, you unlock without any code. Calls arrive / depart with countless delays (2-5 minutes). Excessive overheating. All this in the latest version. In the first, there are frequent reboots, and lack of access to the camera. THIS SHOULD BE A TOP OF THE RANGE?

I dont care if is ugly or beautiful, I just only want a phone with 13mp, 3000 mAh, 4,7 display, radio, the best snapdragon, water resistant, and the most important that have an endurance and well performance at least for 4, 5 years. Is so hard for companies make a good celular for under $400 $300 dollars?

"Both web browsing and video playback took a huge toll on the battery, hinting at some major software imperfections."

Software imperfections? Possibly. But I suspect the more likely culprit here is the Mediatek processor. I have yet to see one in a phone that had respectable battery life.

When will people realize that battery capacity doesn't automatically translates to battery life..? It depends on software and hardware efficiency...
Also, those who complain about battery life, they really need to change their lifestyle and disconnect a little from their gadgets... Radiation is no joke, just because its normal doesn't mean its safe to stick to them 24/7...

I've been wanting to comment on this on a long time. What's up with these company naming strategies, yeeesh. Stuff like LeEco, OnePlus, ZUK on top of the ones you mentioned. And what the hell is Verykool - it's like we're not even trying anymore.

Just got mine. Camera is bad. Always miss focus & noisy. Cannot focus for 20cm and below.

                                  zopo, oppo, xolo, vivo...

As far as I really dont have anything against most of new chinese brands(I actually think some models are better than other more known), but damn that naming is just hilarious.
Those names are seriously taken from some cartoon for 4yo kids, where we have bunch of teddy bears: zopo, xolo, vivo and oppo, and we have also few other animals: niu, plum, blu and yezz...

That's hardly a review. Especially since the benchmarks highlight the Pro6 and not the phone that's being reviewed.
I've previously owned a Zopo C2/ZP980/Scorpio so I can quite happily say the build quality is above average, I agree not perfect but better than this 'review' makes it sound. The battery issues will be caused by software - I had something similar to start with - but was easily solved with tweaks via rooting (Zopos usually come rooted).
The benchmarks mean nothing in real day performance - as AMD have proved with their new graphics card and has been proved and accepted on sites like this for a long time (by people who know what they're talking about, at least).
Getting an international ROM on this should be everyone's first priority if they buy this, it will make a huge difference, not just to battery.
For the price this is worth looking at but don't forget import charges and a knowledge of rooting would be advised.

GSMArena really do need to look into these smaller companies more often, they miss so many good phones.
