I found the use of accurate technical terms here in comments section doesn't stretch much in effectiveness over the casual wording with minor technical error. We all get the message, but still illogical to read as you would say in the end. And I agree to both ends, nevertheless.

But it should not pose any substantial confusion as this is only a technical nomenclature conflict and you will still arrive at the bulk of the idea.
Anyway, I like the "partnership with Dolby Atmos technology" as it would seem more accurate and appropriate.
Dolby Labs has numerous audio technologies branching from noise reduction, encode & compression category
(Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital, Dolby Stereo and Dolby Surround just to name a few).
So to say that you have teamed up with Dolby Labs itself signifies a possibility of multiple Dolby technology support. Which is, in turn, more confusing.

The VR support is one thing. That was ZTE's first intent. The rest are your usual incremental or transitional updates with new or improved Android overall features. You just haphazardly assumed that the phone will be left to rot by its own company (it is possible, though) after supporting a feature from Google. Wrong assumption brings wrong inquiry.
Simply stating facts is different from making a big deal out of it. I haven't even tried implying. I eeked out a concise approach by elaborating on a lengthy post. I merely explained to you what you don't seem to understand and how the topic came to be. We are not even talking a 'do you really need a VR in a smartphone' topic.
You just found out that you are not well-informed about this and resorted to a highly-opinionated reply. Wrong assumption reaps wrong inquiry.
Again, custom ROMs are not for everybody. It is fun and exciting yet still depends on the smartphone's owner.
Just don't go around blabbing and forcing through everybody's throat bunches of technical terms and convince them into conversion.
Grey12123 was right. You are being obtuse.

Second you are making a big deal out of the day dream thing I don't see this feature being used in the masses the reasons are very simple
For daydream to work you need to by an additional VR headset from Google and a controller which in itself would cost anywhere between 300-500$ considering Googles pricing of its devices so how many people do think will spend all this extra money for this only a handful
Thirdly custom romming is quite common and everyone who has even visited gsmarea knows what is a custom Rom what is bootloader unlocking it's not at all dangerous since now most of the companies support official bootloader unlocking the chances of bricking a phone is very slim according to polls every person today has atleast tried to install a custom Rom on one of their devices
If custom Rom was so difficult and people where so afraid of installing it do you a think a single custom Rom CyanogenMod would have millions of active users and this only one custom Rom I am taking about there are hundreds of custom roms out there hence you can come to a conclusion on how many phones today run custom roms
In my case I buy a phone only after visiting xda and checking if there are any custom roms available for the device and how popular it is in the community manufacturers support the phone for 1 or 2 updates after which you need community support to take the phone further there are not many people who change their phones every 6 months

Why? Because the ZTE company needs the immediate jump to Android N platform which is the very first requirement for Daydream VR. Google's VR is power-hungry and resource-hungry on a Marshmallow platform. You heard the news about Huawei, Samsung & LG releasing Daydream VR-ready phones. It's because they will make those phones with Android N already in it. And you will never hear news about their current phones (the Marshmallow ones) being candidates to Daydream VR. Remember these are the phones with heavy-customed UI and can't be fast enough with Marshmallow to Android N transition. Second requirement is the obvious qHD display. And the third requirement is the sensors (like gyroscope for example) basically needed for a proper mobile VR. I can't explain to you any clearer than that.
Please do remember that XDA Developers is a community-based website. It is made for the people and by the people. And there is always a forehand warning on their guides clearly stating that they will not be held responsible if you happen to brick your device, etc. etc. Even if it's 100% safe, custom ROMs are not to everyone's liking. If you consider their line of work, computer literacy and availability, age, level of interest and resourcefulness, these major factors will impact their decision to custom ROMs. Others just want to simply update their phone through their phone and that's it. Don't take me wrong, I am not against these things.
I never even mentioned anything against Oneplus's OS, so please calm down. There is a natural downside to custom ROMs of course. If you are not even aware of this fact, then it will be hard to reason with you.

Regarding xiaomi if you can go on xda developers you can get any kind of rom for any xiaomi phones these phones have so much developer support
Yes they were mimicking ios but now from MIUI8 they are more material design than ios of you have a look at the latest miui 8 beta it's more android than ios sans app drawer Chinese like phones with no app drawers most of the phones launched there be it LG or Samsung are launched without app drawers
And regarding oneplus 3 it's not always about the official software updates oneplus always has lot of development they are just behind nexus in terms of development here by development I mean custom roms and Os do you that oneplus one is the only phone other than a nexus to support Ubuntu touch and it has almost any rom you can name

Update:
Oneplus 3's "blind sale of 1,000 units at ~$456" strategy was spoiled by an online retailer, Oppomart, unveiling a cheaper price at $369. Unfortunately, the retailer's website posted an "out of stock" status regarding its availability.
Talk about double fail.

Lol, 05 Jun 2016Axon is so ugly...Aesthetic appeal is always subjective, but if you read hands-on reviews from every major phone/tech blog they all agree that Axon 7 looks and feels fantastic in the flesh. Even if it's not your cup of tea, why would the HTC M7/M8/M9/M10/A9/iPhone 6/6S/Huawei Honor 5X/Samsung Galaxy C5-clone that is the OP3 suit you any better?

As I have commented before, the Axon 7 this time is forced to maintain the almost-vanilla OS to support Android Daydream VR. This is the very reason why they will(and they certainly will) get fast updates. Which in turn means good aftersales support and update.
On the other hand, Oneplus 3's Oxygen OS could come in v3.1 as the 3.0 is still in beta(Marshmallow). It's an exciting software support and update approach. It's pure Android-based and light on tweaks on what they deemed necessary, more like freedom for more control. It's not without downsides though.
On Xiaomi, it depends on how the developer teams are holding up. They've got no problems dishing out weekly updates and support within an Android version.
But when stepping onto another world like Lollipop to Marshmallow, it's a different story. It will take them a considerable amount of time. This is due to their OS being heavily customed to mimic iOS. Developers must dwelve deeper into the new Android's kernel and stabilize their MiUI to it.

The Axon 7 is Marshmallow on launch and will support VR Daydream from Google, so there's nothing they can do but get the timely Android updates. It makes sense that even if they want to custom ROMS abit more, they can't and turn more to the Nexus's path.
Maybe you are looking for a warranty like Apple products. Any Apple retailers I know (and i really mean anywhere) honors the warranty provided that it's still covered and legitimately purchased from Apple.
If not, then I could not explain it to you more clearly than I did.
