im getting the galaxy s on my new contract...yea,we south africans are abit slower in the phone market....basically i just wanted any phone better than the N97,as my bro & cousin have those....the galaxy kills em by faaaar!!!!

How Galaxy S is supposed to be the best smartphone since every Samsung is under Touch Wizz? Any difference between a Windows one and an Android one. Always that heavy Touch Wizz system. Come on. They must be kidding. I would be ashamed to get out a Galaxy S out of my pocket.

These awards goes to show that it is in fact only Steve Jobs and apple fanboy drones who see the iphone 4 with Rose tinted glasses. Though Steve probably views it with cash tinted glasses! The flaws are quite evident,the massive overpricing and the minium applied upgrades from the 3gs even more so (some of the 'new' features in the iphone 4 were not only badly needed as they were glaringly missing and should have been in the the 3gs but also to try and keep the iphone somewhere near the industry standard of the last half year)Pity they managed to lower features like antena reception to way below the indusrty standard.
Android is here and winning the day,with newer os likw gingerbread a cooking,ans super amoled, 1.5 - 2ghz processor open source android beauties on the way over the coming months its a great time for everyone

Galaxy S has great hardware, As I said, I am using one currently, but the OS itself (Android) is very immature compared to Symbian. Previously when I was using Nokia 5800, I had to reboot my phone only 3 times in a period of 1.5 years and none of those were because of OS issues. After I got my Galaxy S, I had to reboot 5 times in the fist week itself. By second week using Advanced Task Killer became essential and by 3rd week, I rooted my phone just for the sake of running AutoKiller and tweaking the memory settings
Symbian is poor UI over a great OS running on top of a great kernel. Android is a great UI over a poor OS running on top of great kernel. iOS is a simplistic UI over a poor and restrictive OS running on top of a great kernel.

Everyone knows that the amount of money samsung invest in R&D annual is unbeatable. The number of chips patent they hold is remarkable. Even during the crisis last 2 years, even when other manufacturer are scaling down their investment, samsung was the onli manufacturer to continue to invest, and that is how they dominate the chip market today, as they are the only player which have the manufacturing capability. Imagine without their investment, many phones would either be downsize to less capable features or might face severe shortage.

Anonymous, 17 Aug 2010Symbian is a much more resource efficient OS than Android. ... moreI also have a Samsung Galaxy S and a Nokia (X6).
After removing the Daily Briefing widget and installing the Task Killer the phone works flawlessly. On the other hand the X6 is OK, but I do not use it for web-browsing, because the browser sucks and the screen is too small. I prefer SGS because:
1. Android Market refunds you if you un-install an app in 24 hours, OVI market not, so you loose money.
2.The touch screen of the X6 is quite unresponsive, you need to practically hit it, the SGS screen is extremely sensitive, detects very light touches.
3. X6 is bulky, the back cover does not close properly and sqeeks, the SGS-perfect build quality.
4. SGS has swipe, on X& you make a lot of typing errors because of the small keys.
However the plus points of the X6 are:
1 free world wide satnav, and that's the reason I bought it.
2 You do not need a task killer.
Overall though, SGS is better.
