This will be an awesome solution if you placed your phone face first on the table and helping with selfies, and if it also has the notification led on the front it'll be awesome. The gyroscope and sensors can recognise which side the phone is facing and which led to use for notifications, and for us with a crazy girlfriend, whom we love, can never miss her message

Xperia P and U still fare better at this feature. Not sure if everyone will like the ridiculously large bezels though.

Again. Fixing something that isn't even broken. So now we need to set our phones face down so we know if there is a notification?

LG already did that with their G PRO 2, FLEX series.

                      Well it came from nokia e63, e71, e72, e5.
They all had the nav key ring around it light up also some other last model symbians did it too that I do know of but dont know the model number.

Still have my e72 and e5 as a backup phone.

This came first with HTC Dream on its scroll ball and also with Desire Z on its center home button but not with color variety.

As most have pointed out, I also think the placement on the back takes away from its usefulness. The primary notification light should always be at the front and I think integration into or around the home key or even an illuminating logo would be a much better solution.

How will they know if they have a notification when they have their phone on a table?

but who places his phone face down to the table? they should add the Smart Glow Ring around the home button too, that more practical than around the camera
