Report says PS4 Neo - which skipped E3 2016 - could still launch this year

19 June, 2016
Sony confirmed the 4K-capable PlayStation Neo ahead of this year's E3, but the console wasn't there at the gaming expo. So, does that mean the device's launch has been pushed to 2017? No - at least according to Eurogamer's Richard Leadbetter.

Both Andrew House and iirc Jim Ryan have hinted as much in the e3 interviews. Most likely, it'll be revealed at TGS, and if Sony is to release it this year, expect a staggered release with only a single region getting it this year.

No sorry, but i'd rather buy gtx 1080 to play 4k resolution with hiccup-free experience

Anonymous, 19 Jun 2016No,better I have fun on a GTX980 Ti with 6GB of RAM playing... moreyou didn't get what i said..now gtx1080 has come and you have to upgrade to that..yea fine..maybe you can..maybe i can too...what i'm trying to say is that its easier for game makers to build for a specific system instead of the idea of making it for hundreds of models of graphic cards with their amp and ti boost versions...and what if your game fails to recognize the card??(my skyrim had a similar problem..thankfully it ran on max with the integrated graphics)..now wait till scorpio and neo get realeased they will not be as powerful as 1080gtx but give the 4k stuff you need easily..personally..my ps3 is sitting silently behind the computer while i enjoy(hmm..) my measly tiny gtx660 :)

Games consoles have never been released with truly edge cutting performance, in the early days arcade boards preformed better than any console then the home PC took off and then that become the leading edge at the forefront of graphics technology and the reason for this console backfoot is because for every console there has to be a development unit which has more powerful hardware to test the code so the release units will never be the best possible specs pushed to its utter limit specially at the start of a consoles life when technology hasn't evolved on as much as towards a consoles end life to take full advantage of hardware.
Save your self the cash Microsoft and Sony are going the ways sega and Nintendo went and Microsoft seems to be playingbthe Sega death card to themselfs I believe giving the delay to store for the scorpian will flop it as PC will evolve in just one year to far exceed its performance for the same price point 6 teraflops to a gaming PC today is childsplay.
The neo at the right price point could be just like a PS 2 slim midrange console life hardware upgrade actually costing no more to manufacture and slight hardware improvements.
Sony could be tricking Microsoft into introducing the new s and scorpion defragmenting themselfs to a point like Sega did and its a hard road to recover from then and there was very little PC to compete know Sega would have gone down the pan in minutes crushed to software development forever.

The problem for current PS4 and Xbox One owners will start when only appears exclusive games for the Neo and Scorpio. The traditional console life cycle it's just gone...

                  this a google search quote
The RSX 'Reality Synthesizer' is a proprietary graphics processing unit (GPU) co-developed by Nvidia and Sony for the PlayStation 3 video game console. The chip is based on the Nvidia G70, features 256 MB memory and has a performance of 228.8 GFLOPS
have fun playing your games on pc with 256mb graphic cards

Consoles have no place in a world where technology is rapidly evolving they are only holding games and creativity back cause developers have to keep within their capacity limits unlike PCs where you can easily replace a graphic card to a new one but even 3 year old graphic cards are still more powerful than current consoles and only a handful of games can push them to their full potential

The original PS4 will continue to work like before, all future games will still run on the original PS4 (Sony doesn't allow Neo exclusives) and they will work the same way as if there was no Neo. -- The original consoles were underpowered to begin with, why don't you complain about that? Better yet, why didn't you do the smart thing of not buying the underpowered hardware?

On the other hand, people who always said they would skip this generation because these consoles were too underpowered (*me*), will now consider buying the Neo (or the upcoming Scorpio).

                      Win-Win!

And I assume that one of many bad idea of Sony this year(after all this year they hit the Guinness record), will be to F# normal PS4 users, and not give them discount(even that 15%) if they would like to replace their PS4 to this(if they bought it this year).
