It was mid-last year when the team behind VLC - which is arguably one of the most popular media players in the world - confirmed that the version 3.0 of the application will feature support for Chromecast. Now, almost an year later, the feature (although in its early stages) has made it to the VLC 3.0 nightlies.

AnonD-548445, 20 Jun 2016I have no idea what a nightly build is, also which night. Do you?nightly builds are versions of a program built from code that is still in development and thus updated frequently. they can contain experimental features (like Chromecast support in this case), bugfixes and other improvements, but are not considered stable releases for the same reason. they *might* run into unexpected problems, unresolved new bugs, crash or otherwise malfunction or, in case of an unfortunate change, not run at all.
if you want bleeding edge features and the cost of using potentially unstable software, this is for you. there's a link to the VLC nightlies below the article
