Microsoft boasts about battery life on Edge browser VS other top browsers

20 June, 2016
Today, Windows released a new “experiment” to promote its own built-in browser that may users may be hesitant to fully switch to (me included). It’s important for Microsoft to up its own browser game, especially since it’s already installed on every Windows 10 machine in the world.

It's funny how Microsoft haters are almost always "Anonymous" LOL
I've been using Surface Pro 3 for more than a year now, and Edge is the only browser installed on it. Some minor functions are still missing, but telling it's "buggy" or "crushing all the time" is just a lie.

Uhmmm....no deal. IE 7 crashed on me in 2007 and I lost chat connection before I was given any other contact. I still haven't forgiven it, even if it calls itself edge now.

Performance is top notch. Only thing that prevent me from using it is lack of extension. Otherwise fast and smooth.

But I don't trust Microsoft. That reason clear enough?

Running time is all well and good but it still can't run as well as almost every other browser out there. Seems to handle various sections of basic HTML quite poorly when it should just work without issue.

I know it might sound desperate from Microsoft, but frankly speaking with Edge they finally, for the first time came up with a decent browser. Sure more features are needed (such as better download management), but it's smooth and doesn't strain battery, for real. I grew to like it, even though Opera is still my nr. 1.

Everyone loves a fast, intuitive browser. And the extentions too. That's the reason Firefox, and later Chrome succeeded against IE. If Edge can beat them at their own game, then Edge share would go up, but I don't think battery life for just videos would help. Battery life for browsing is also very important. Can we have a test on that?

Lol. Microsoft so desperate to promote the garbage that is Windows 10 that they are advertising even their browser just to make people upgrade to that malware disguised as an OS. Lol

The irony is that people still don't use edge.
still, Chrome is a third party software

thats strange..i always thought the new opera will be competent enough to get more out of the battery....hmm...of course chrome cannot be anywhere in this because it regards all tabs as different instances of the app, giving it a processing edge over the other browsers...excelent on a deskyop, but multitabbed browseing will fill up the ram(on a netbook) really fast.
in the end there are 2 things to squeeze more juice out of the lappy..give it an ssd, get rid of those pesky toolbars and addons, except flash ofcourse that would remove somthing from the browsing experience..
i dunno about edge but the other browsers got tweaks...eg. opera re-renders the page every 1 second..make it 5..voila more battery :)..i think..
