To echo the general sentiment I also think this phone could have been good if it had a 5MP camera with Flash AND a clear indication of upgrade to Android 2.1.
But the HTC Wildfire seems like a better buy despite its poor resolution.

Yes, a better camera would've been great. I love the design though. But since its android i might consider buying it, if the price would go down a bit more. It would be my first android experience if ever.

Why are companies still releasing Android 1.6 phones?

too expensive.
apart from the capacitive screen, the LG GT540 matches the X8 exactly and it runs android 1.6. LG have already confirmed that it's getting 2.1 in sept. it's £99 from carphonewarehouse, half the price of the X8.
sony ericcson consistently overprice their phones.

It is to expencive for what you get.
This is an unfinished product.
The people who made this phone hit the market should hang their head in shame, for they have launched another phone that uses a lot of natural materials which we have fewer off every day.

I wanted this for a second phone but the camera doesn't look appealing, I would buy it in a heart beat if it had 5mp with flash. But under $300 US dollar...
