Appreciated if I could select BB10 to run on it.. or if that product was capable of running either android or QNX.. let me pay for the QNX.. Why not.. After all I am willing to pay for the best technology with an affordable price tag.. This will open up new job opportunities like developing apps for QNX the strongest but light weight operating system.

Anonymous, 27 Jun 2016I still remember the days when BB meant quality and securit... moreBlackBerry never copied anybody, they hold over 40000 patents which is practically inventions.

If you used BB10 and the Passport you would know that nothing about the device resembles any other device in any shape or form or function.
The Priv was also unveiled with BB10 and only ended up running Android becausethe head of mobile, Ron Louks came from an android background and persuaded them to go android. If you said samsung and iphone are copies of each other then you know what you're talking about...

I still remember the days when BB meant quality and security. Poor BB lost their sales at the time they lost their integrity when they started copying everyone else.

You'de think they'de take note when so many people praise the Bold, and maybe even resurect it... But no.. That would make things too easy for them. Ahh well.. I lost faith in the company after they started releasing one disaster of a handset after another. Best thing they can do now is outsource the DESIGN too.

Mobilemaster, 26 Jun 2016Why not make themself? To save money. Chen has stated that Blackberry will farm out virtually everything. Blackberry will design the devices but others will manufacturer them. That way Blackberry no longer has financial risk or exposure with inventory etc.
In other words, Blackberry is hedging it's bet on Hardware and their financial exposure that way they can break even on hardware even though they only move about 600k phones per quarter.

Blackberry lost $21 million last quarter on Hardware.
John Chen has stated that Blackberry has made agreements with partners so that they no longer have exposure to inventory or anything else. That way Blackberry can break even or make a small profit with virtually zero financial risk due to these types of agreements with other companies.
I just hope they price this device to sell. Anything over $300 will be too much imo.
There is a lot of competition in the mid-range Android space, so they need to price this extremely aggressively otherwise this will be Blackberry's last device imo.

[deleted post]Please BB keep your original mfg in house do not outsource since... Its gonna be tough in turning away in buying your next mid Rangers!!

                    Well done BB.

Re-brand something cheaper and give it an older SOC and then (very much probably) sell it for way higher price than the original product.

Well Done! Nokia shall welcome you soon BB.

I really wish they'd keep offering BB10 versions of new devices. It's an underappreciated OS unfortunately. I hate the idea of having to use Android on a phone at some point. If it crashes as often as my Nexus 9 tablet does, I won't be a happy 'Droider. BB10 never crashes on me. I guess I'll use my Z30 til it croaks unless an Alcatel BB looks decent.

Fantastic News, 26 Jun 2016More choice why should we only have 2 big smartphone makers... moreExcept for that "better price" part. Priv got that perfectly ruined by having been piss poorly positioned. Told the fans already that it'd be next to impossible for Bb to keep its RRP to manageable levels because of the slider form factor. But top that off, Bb did even worse and actually priced it HIGHER than most competing flagships above its level.

                          Why not make themself?

ironic how its is being said that the new blackberry is a rebranded idol4 looking at its internals... just look at every single flagship/ midranger their innards are virtually identical... snap 820 4GB ram 3000mah battery 5.5 all new phones are basically the same spec wise
