The back is ugly as hell. I see no point of having two different materials like that in that ratio. I hope this is fake.

I love the design break from the clones out their. It adds character and one should never be afraid of the colour palate. Please keep the outstanding glass to edge feel of the premium feel of the A9 gorgeous thing it is. Amoled, no back glass.

The plastic/glass insert doesn't help the looks of the back at all. If it has a functional purpose then some other design solution should be found. And the face of the phone is just plain.
The only attractive things about Marlin or Sailfish are the specs and the OS version.

I think its about time HTC stopped experimenting & brought back its simplicity & value to the table which helped it gain its value before 2012..
The Sailfish should just be an all-metal Nexus 5x with 5-inch screen & boomsound stereo speakers..
Nexus 5x is already an awesome smartphone.. It has an incredibly awesome camera (easily one of the best smartphone cameras to date), worthy laser autofocus system, front facing speaker, light-weight & a good design..
All that HTC needs to do is build upon it -
1) reduce unwanted bezel areas & screen-size to 5-inch (making it comfortable for one-handed use ----> juusstt like the Nexus 5!)
2) good quality AMOLED SCREEN (save battery)
3) top-off the front facing speakers with "stereo boomsound" or "STEREO" AT LEAST
4) retain the camera & laser autofocus of the Nexus 5X
5) upgrade matte body to "all-metal" (sure it'll make the phone a li'l heavier, but that's an acceptable trade-off considering the cold-feeling metal body one gets in-return)
6) ensure a 2700+ battery capacity of the phone!!!
This will lead to 1 hell of a device.. running stock android 7.0.. with direct updates from google..
The Marlin can extend support for the market for 5.5-inch with same specs & probably an upgraded 16 (or) 21 MP Camera..
C'mon HTC.. It's all possible in 2016!!!!
And for God's Sake, if you plan on the "no-stereo speakers" strategy, please make the front facing receiver as a "receiver-speaker" 2-in-1 combo & place the fingerprint-scanner on bottom-front of the phone! .. Please please PLEASE DO NOT WASTE BEZEL SPACE :( .. It hurts to see a big chunk of front space being wasted with nothing present there & just reducing comfort of 1-handed usage!!!!

I think it should be full metal back or full glass back, half glass and half metal looks ugly, I wish lg made nexus devices for next few years, I really enjoyed my nexus 5x. But this could be more attractive if it's back is made of full metal.

Barf. That glossy part on the back looks so bad. These renders just make that all the more clear. Just matte plastic please, if it must be there for an antenna or something.
And the "G"? Re-barf.
Please let it just say Nexus. Nexus is a brand that Nexus users have come to know and love. G for Google looks cheesey and commercial. If Google wanted that to be the logo, they should have done that from the start.
I will never understand a company that creats a brand, develops an image for it and loyalty over years, and then changes it annoying everyone. You don't see Apple changing their logo to a pear or steak. These are just marketing/branding 101 rules. How could Google be so dumb?
I hope these renderes are really just, wrong. The HTC 10 is a great phone. Make a Nexus version. Put "Nexus" on it. Done. The Nexus One, made by HTC was great, don't mess this one up, this is a chance to reprise that greatness.
Google hasn't had a phone design for the Nexus line, since the Nexus 5, that people generally pretty much liked. And people like the Nexus 4. People like the Galaxy Nexus. People where a little meh on the Nexus S. People loved the Nexus One. That was 4 for 5 on the first 5 Nexus phones. Now they're 0 for 3, with the Nexus 6, 5X, and 6P; some people like them, but they have also been hated by many loyal Nexus users (the Nexus 6 would have been great, if not for its polarizing size).
Come on Google, get it together. Just follow basic good design principles and stop doing glossy cheesey visor oversized fugly barfy things.
