Google Keyboard 5.1 with theme support now on the Play Store

Google is rolling out the v5.1 of the Google Keyboard app for Android. This was part of Android Nougat beta but is now available to older versions of Android as well.

I'm gonna set a picture of my cute new Desi GF as the custom background image for my Google keyboard lol Also, I hope there's a "cyan-bluish" theme color option available so it can match the style of my OS.

      dexterouz, 16 Jul 2016I like Swiftkey, because - It learns as you type. Do not n... moreeven though i use the samsung keyboard, you know that the top row on the google keyboard is also number on a long press. not as efficient , but dont need to change to a new screen for the numbers.

        I like Swiftkey, because
        - It learns as you type. Do not need any steps to add into a dictionary.
        - Prediction is good for different languages too.
        - Top row numbers and when clicked on symbols they have a phone dialer like number arrangements.
        - Emoji prediction while typing too.

        I hope soon they will bring theme customization too like Google and TouchPal.

            Such a shame. Great working letters keyboard but until they have a top numbers like the Samsung keyboard - it's a no go for me.
            Why does Google insist on ignoring the most obvious practicalities? It's a bit like their back button being on the bottom left of their phones. Fine if the majority of the world's population was left handed!!
