Evidence suggests Apple’s ‘AirPods’ could happen, we just don’t know when

15 July, 2016
With leaks continually suggesting that the iPhone 7 could be released without a 3.5mm headphone jack, the idea of Apple releasing fully wireless ear buds isn’t entirely impossible. In fact, the tech giant has filed trademarks in the US with the name “AirPods”.

So Apple filing patent without anything solid to back it or is just a strategy to say they have an earbud in order to look like they are not logging behind as usually because of Samsund new earbud?

I believe they are really pushing their luck with this. I don't know how many people will be able to get over the lack of a headphone jack, no matter how sheep they are to apple. 99% of top performance headphones are wired. Wireless headphones are significantly more expensive than their wired counterparts. And we all know headphones are consumables, they break very easily. So even if apple includes wireless headphones with their device, what happens when they break? Should people spend $150 or more for wireless headphones? I don't think anyone would be happy.

I know they believe their fan base and brand recognition allows them to do anything to cut costs, but this is just stupid. Next year they'll remove the camera and tell people they can buy a wireless one separately.
