Samsung beats Apple to top PC market in Brazil

Samsung has become the top PC vendor in Brazil, overtaking Apple and Dell, according to an annual survey conducted by Brazilian newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo. The iPhone maker had to settle for the second spot.

Wait, what? In Brazil you hardly see anyone with Apple computers, they're waaaay to expensive, a MacBook Pro, the newest one with Core M costs R$12000, that's almost U$4000, no one buys it.

Apple computers were never popular here.

          After a lifetime of Mac use, for the last 6 or 7 months, I have been using what is probable the best ever Windows device, an i7 based Surface Pro 4, and now, a Dell Lattitude 7350. I got rid of the SP4 because despite offering a superb form factor and build quality, it was immensely unstable, fialing to wake up (or waking in my bag and overheating!), not driving my monitor properly and so on. The Dell has the same sleep/wake issues. So one can only conclude that this is Windows being useless or something in the firmware. And that is ignoring the awful inconsistent UX that is the Windows experience. I am moving back to Apple soon as the new MacBook Pros with that OLED strip are launched. Not for the form factor, but because the OS is so much more polished. Samsung hardware is likewise good, so I am not surprised at these figured, but people are so missing out on something better by using Windows. It really is awful!

            No support for samsung laptops. My samsung pc is going to dust. Don't buy samsung laptop. If u can't buy apple buy HP or sony or whatsoever but don't buy samsung. They stop supporting there laptops and give them up so soon.

              The number of systems sold matters because it counts. for eg: if Brazil has 2 million people and 1.3 million people buys Samsung PC while the other 800k buys apple PC, lets assume apple PC cost $1000 and Samsung PC cost $800 the outcome effect will be Samsung $960,000,000 while apple PC will be $800,000,000. you do the maths. Its simple economics.

                          Apple should maybe also apply their Macs. Last Spot I saw for it was a spot for MacBook Air in 2014

                                      Thanks Brazil for choosing the sensible option, and hope hackintoshes are popular there (one of the few ways to get Mac OS X in a sanctioned country like Sudan)
