25 July, 2016
Servers are overloaded by the launch day crowd, so the app may not work for you right now.

Haha. How's that? prisma servers got down lol and people can't edit their pics to create art out of them. Lol. It would have been better if the editing was done offline.

This was a completely foreseeable issue, since Prisma processes your pics on servers (oh, and you also have to grant them a huge licence to use your images however they want. Uncomfortable, to say the least). And this is just for rendering in low-resolution, can't imagine what would happend if they enable HD processing or video, as they've announced.
There's an alternative app on the iOS market (and coming soon for Android and WP) - Painnt - that also uses neural networks but processes the images directly on your device, rather than sending them to a random server somewhere in Russia. Painnt also allows HD rendering and doesn't force you to square-crop your pics. It's free to download here http://apple.co/29IYZ9c

      Actually it cannot work offline.
All processing is done in the cloud on the team’s server, rather than on the device.
The server has something like three neural networks. So your device is not able to do it offline, the operations are too difficult, as Prisma is not simply a set of filters you usually download on you smartphone.

Why the photos have to go from my phone to their servers? What are they doing with my photos?
Why are they don't release the app that can do that conversion into the smartphone?
