*sigh* Oh Bony Bony Bony. Can you just "defocus" in America already bc no one buys your premiumly priced phone here and no one will buy them in India or China either due to better and cheaper alternatives in the upper/mid/low range segments.

It is a smart move if you channel your business to the current state of mobile industry. Kinda makes easier to handle those countries because you don't have to deal with the whole Xperia line which they make new phones every 6-12 months. What is the deal if you can't sell your products? (But this is another subject for another article and they have to fix it.)

If you cant compete on price with these chinese firms,its better let it go that segment than making loss from that segment. for example i have a z3 while my friend has oneplus 2, we bought the devices with a month gap between but even before he changed the phone as the phone started to lose its performance, but z3 still had the same performance, but one thing he said explained the most indian's perspective " i paid just 20k for the device and i got the best from it and its time to move to next device with latest hardware and tech"

If Sony is top3 in your country then that speaks volumes of your country, nothing else.

Indian people buy a phone mostly by paying entire price at a time and remember that a flagship costs atleast 250 dollars higher than that of usa pricing due to taxes . If carriers like at&t, verizon exists in india , smartphone market would be at a whole new level

Funny to see all the geniuses in here :D , i think it is the right move, chineese are taking over for the low range and mid range, espesially in poor countrys like india. Fun fact, sony is top 3 in my country :P only beaten by sammy and of course apple, Huawei is a close 4
