Sony is thinking that if that put their name on any soap box also it will become premium phone.... Also it is clear that Sony has lost battle to the Chinese in entry to mid level....only left is high end..... but they are forgetting that their premium phones are equal to entry or mid range phones in chinese brands... I think time has come to say good bye... But we miss you Sony very very much....

I'm not trying to be racist or anything like that, but every time I see comments from Indian and chinese people asking more and more cheap mid-range devices. It's a blasphemy for them to buy a high-end phone when they could buy 3 cheap phones.
Quality is not something they are interested in. Which is kinda sad..
But hey, more high-end phones for the rest of us :)

I hate to break it to you Sony, but the Indian market is known for the budget phones, rather than the premium bracket.

It's a hair-brained idea and a ridiculous one at that.

sony should say 'premium priced' phones not premium phones.

What make them 'premium' is only the price. Everything else is cheap compared to others..

but i think they can do well in the premium only segment if priced right which shouldnt be too low either

there are many holes for them to fill to be able to capture the market in india

Here's to hoping that Sony actually produces a premium device that they can release to the Indian market. I think our friend here confuses the words "premium" and "costly".

                                  Its a disaster for Sony.

In these markets, Sony still has a name which other brands would envy of. Its not the market which is a problem, the product design team, pricing team and strategy team needs to put together a roadmap for success. Pulling out of market? Who on earth came up with that idea as a sustainable business plan? I think the biggest threat to Sony is their internal incapability than external markets.

To strengthen their presence in the market? I doubt if there is much strength left in sony mobile division right now.

These premium phones will have tough time selling with competition being better and cheaper, also Sony has the worst after sales for a popular brand

india and china industries make good budget phones and their markets is full of cheap phones. then major brands with expensive low-end phones have no place in their markets for low-end phones.
