You haven't,... moreWell, I doubt Microsoft more than any other brand, haha, I've used Lumia 720 (had 2 of them), 730 and 930, all three were very shitty phones with very shitty software, bad quality apps and ridiculous bugs, the 720 the Vol- button stopped working in just a few months, front glass extremely fragile both this and the 730 the earphone stopped working suddenly on one side, had to restart to work normally again or the volume control stopped working, those bugs were never fixed, the 930 the microfones have recurrent problems.
Overall quality is bad, but that's my opinion, from my experience with it, I gave Lumia's 3 chances, had bad experiencies the three times.
I use a Redmi Note 3 now, paid only 200 dollars for it and it's superb, fast, buttery smooth and have a good build quality.

You have an option to "Improve the recognition" - you train it a few times in different conditions and it improves with each recognition. Besides, Samsung's videos are just what they are at this point - promotional videos. Of course they will show it's flawless. We'll see how it behaves in a real world.

The first phone to use iris scanner was fujitsu, it's not that fast fingerprint scanner is a lot faster

Just saw the video and didnt knew how this really works, now i saw something new. The fact that you need to first wake up your screen, then need to swipe to activate the scanner and then you need to get your eyes to right part of the scanner...
Whats the point to do all these three steps when you can unlock your phone with one step already. I get that maybe someone would use this for extra security, but its not for everyday use clearly because it takes too many steps.

Damn, it is 'safe'..!
I hoped it would have crazy power levels allowing the infrared to control my television (with the right software), perhaps even bouncing the ir around the room until it hit its' mark.
Like in the eighties when people fired their remotes at the ceiling lights (technician joke at the time).
I guess even if ir blaster software could use the front facing IR, users would complain of the wrist action to face the phone at the hifi etc..
Better than getting up and walking across the room, perhaps Samsungs way to fight obesity ;-)

rrhyme, 04 Aug 2016Samsung isn't the first....just saying..No one said that they were the first, but it's the first popular brand to adapt it, ZTE nor Microsoft are as popular, so their iris scanner function wasn't widely announced, besides that the iris scanner on Lumia 950 and ZTE's solution aren't as fast as the Note7.

So you have to very safe while looking into the screen if you do not want to unlock private data or app. It's like "Medusa", do not look directly :P

zte elite brought the iris scanner in 2015 in its smartphone. why does this story not mention this, same old story samsung and apple bring something out years later and take the credit. bad news report.
