Random, 08 Oct 2010I gotta agree with this statement. Why would someone ne... moreI would've agreed until I got my 5MP N82 with xenon. Then I suddenly started taking more photos. It often happens that you get a beautiful photo opportunity in your day-to-day life you just don't think to capture it. I'm not some camera freak or anything, but it is a really nice thing to have! You won't know what you're missing 'till you've tried it.

Random, 08 Oct 2010That's a very valid comment which has made me question my v... moreif u checked the specs of all the phones u have mentioned,u will find that n8 surpasses them with a very obvious margin whether it is targeted at them or not.everyone who say software and processor.software is a preference,it is the same as the matter of mac and windows and about processor through the nine years of symbian existance(i know it is more than 9 years but i am counting since nokia 7650)it operates on lower processors than other os's and its performance was on par and sometimes surpass them

Wow, dude, you are trying sooo sooo hard to find a reason not to like this phone! I guess 5 megapixels would have been an overkill 7 years ago as would 3G, Wi-Fi, USB on the Go and all that. But i guess as soon as it is available on the iPhone or an Android it will be OK!

I had first thought that the N8 was being marketed as Nokia's flagship phone, designed to compete with the iPhone 4, HTC Desire HD and the i9000...........hence why I thought it's a bit of a "fail" as it's nowhere near as capable as those phones.
I guess that is what is attracting so much criticism for this phone. If it gets into the ring with the big boys, then people will talk it down and criticise it as it's not in the same league.
But if this is being marketed as a feature rich camera-phone, then for that segment of the market it is ideal. Best camera with a host of features and strong processing power.....nothing else can beat it.

Why would someone ne... moreYou are entitled to your opinion of course but I love the idea of 12 MP cameraphone. Well not just the MPs but also the huge sensor, good optics and Xenon flash. Pics are meant as memories too, not just your latest facebook post.
Also, taking widescreen shots, which seems to become the norm on display devices, on a 5 MP sensor leaves you with measely 3.5 MPs. The 12 MPs can also be used to give you decent zooming wthout optics while recording video (like N8 does) and smart apps can even use them to compensate for image stabilization etc.

Why would someone need to keep a 12MP camera with them at all times? And to take photos using the maximum resolution would create huge file sizes and take up too much memory.
Having a 12MP camera is a "nice to have" on a mobile phone, but it can't be a focal selling point.

Why would anyone pay £429 or £30pm for this ugly, retrograde device? For those photography enthusiasts who need a 12mp camera they can buy a separate digicam and spend the rest on a stylish phone with a modern OS that isn't an embarrassment to reveal in public.

Nokia N8 would be perfect if it had a resolution of 480*800, 1 ghz snany processor, 512mb of RAM, most of all ''ANDROID'' with sense UI (desire hd rom) :)
