Nokia C5-03 announced, brings full connectivity on the cheap

14 October, 2010
The increasingly complicated Nokia model numbering scheme just received a new entry - meet the Nokia C5-03. It's a Symbian^1 touch phone with 5MP camera, Wi-Fi and GPS and it's really lightweight...

Have Nokia lost the plot COMPLETELY? They will now have FOUR different smartphone os at the same time???
I thought it was bad that they released symbian^4 so close after they released a brand new Symbian^3, but on top of that they are releasing Megoo. And as if that wasn't enough, they are still sticking with symbian1??? THAT'S FOUR FRIGGING SMARTPHONE OS AT THE SAME TIME!
Seems like Nokia has no plan about their future right now, all the ceos being fired is a clear sign that they really have no clear set course.

How can nokia go back to s60v5 when symbian 3 is now the big thing? The company has gone crazy and doing all stupid things. Better they should have lowered the cost of c7. Boycott nokia and save mobiles. Nokia cannot take the customers for granted just because they have produced some good mobiles in the past.

Eventhough this 100 euros cheaper then C601, I still wonder was this really needed? Couldn't they just move 5800 to this price range???
                    Otherwise nice specs and size.

can anyone explain, whats the deal with using Fixed focus on a brand new model, with 5mpix camera. they've released 6303 with auto focus, and in the next version (6303i) change it to fixed. is there smthing better in fixed focus on the cameras.. for me no, i can't take no close up pic at all.. not even 10~15cm.

Who do they think we are? What is this nonsense: "The Nokia C5-03 has a 1000mAh battery, which promises impressive battery life - up to 25 days of standby"
25 days standby from a 1000mAh with specs like these?

s^1 can support a lot of s^3 apps except high end 3d game due to hardware limitation. And that's happening even without using the new Qt code. With the introduction of Qt code, there will be even more apps that can be run on both platform.
The reason Nokia use s^1 for this is probably due to the weaker processor and less RAM on this device.

                                I hate Nokia's new naming scheme. There's already a C5-00, a C5-01 and another C5-03. It's already confusing. They should've stick with a 1-letter-2-number index.

It would be better if it was Symbian^3

why Nokia still uses old Symbian^1 on a newer phone? no point, especially when it comes to apps availability and compatibility in the near future

great move on high-end phones, bad on low-end.
