But they discontinued support for Satio, which is only a year old...they promised 2 years updates and fixes :-/ Sony Ericcsson might have made sales, but their customer service and after sales are not up to par at all :-/

The point about comparing the Galaxy S series to the Xperia lineup is to point out how well the Galaxy S family has outsold the Xperia family despite coming to the market later and with hardware specs that aren't too far off. The key differentiator here is software (and some key hardware elements like multi-touch) and on that front SE is very much behind.
For an article that talks about profits and revenue, however, this comparison is very relevant. If SE keeps up boneheaded moves like this, the other OEMs are going to eat their lunch. Samsung's Galaxy S is doing exactly that right now. Just imagine what Xperia sales would have been and what Galaxy S sales would have been if SE had executed correctly and followed up with solid support.

WTF cares about galaxy!? The news is about se not samsung, so please do not compare because it's not a comparison. se is a smaller company but it's doing very well now and this is what matters. if mt was a deal breaker than the xperia family would be down hills now, but the opposite is what happened precisely.
a bigger company doesn't mean better, look at lg for example it's a bigger company than htc,se and apple, but all it provides us is outdated and boring phones.
SE= make.believe and yes I still believe.

Because SE have the sexiest looking device in the planet ... more1 year does not count as a "little behind" in anybody's books. But especially in the mobile phone industry.
Moreover, the fact that the Xperia line does not even have multi-touch on top of being a year behind on OS updates is the kinda crap that will make SE a non-contender when it comes to Android if they don't pick up their game.
As for specs like 8 MP cam...if you're into juvenile spec comparisons like that fill your boots. Those of us who actually care compare real pictures.
The real test is in sales. SE made the Xperia family. Samsung made the Galaxy S family. Which one is doing better? And can anybody guess why? (Hint: latest software and working hard to push out updates.)
I am disappointed I used to actually support this brand.

Sony Ericsson should stopped worrying about Sony. A strategy to keep SE products from cannibalizing Sony's market is not doing SE any good. With the introduction of Nokia N8 with a camera that equals/outperforms most point and shoot, it won't be long before others will follow, threatening the point-&-shoot market (save for the optical zoom). Just my opinion.

The form factor is unbelievable (at least on the front). The simplicity of the home/main screen is amazing.
Sony Ericsson still makes the best looking devices.

And people I do feel that people in other forums are criticizing the XPERIA X10. The fact is that X10 is the only Android phone that uses more animation than any other does and still it does not hangs or lags like the Samsung Galaxy S and other Android flagships.
And one more thing, if you are comparing the 2009 X10 with the latest Android flagships and still get beaten in some aspects, then it means that SE has done a great job with the X10, so great that even one year ahead flagships of the same platform are having a tough time with it. Well done SE! You really need to roll more XPERIA family Androids with even more specs than the X10 as I have mentioned in my previous post. I love SE!

Sony Ericsson has kept quite for a while. Earlier, every few months we used to receive a big surprise from them. Many months have passed and they are not looking like doing anything. Sony Ericsson needs to come up with more smartphones (Andriod) like the all powerful XPERIA X10 with even more specs.
Its a smartphone war now, and the faster Sony Ericsson realizes this, the better it is for them.
By the way, I use Sony Ericsson phones and the best thing about them is that they never hang like Nokias. They sail smooth and the aim of Sony Ericsson for their cell phones is to make them sail and not lag. Sony Ericsson rocks!

Because SE have the sexiest looking device in the planet + best camera phones! Also, with se you always know that you will get some updates even if they are a little late. While, other manufacturers never even bother to release any update after you buy their phones.

SE doesn't deserve to make a profit given how lazy they've been on the Android front. Google is on the verge of releasing Gingerbread and SE is only now rolling out Eclair.
Why people buy their products when they know that SE is committed to being a year behind is beyond me.
And this is coming from someone who used to love SE products.
