Google is going after intrusive ads on mobile

The search giant might start penalizing pages more severely for having full screen or otherwise obtrusive ads on top of content.

Lola, 27 Aug 2016Please explain how a different browser provides a clean bro... moreI've noticed it with fb mostly. When you use Chrome, you cannot send messages from mobile website. You are straight away redirected into the Play Store and asked to install messenger. I switched to Opera, and problem disappeared instantly. Also using Chrome on some websites (I.e. Techradar) you are being welcomed by a full screen ad, before you can enjoy articles. Doesn't happen in the Opera. Google wants to be like facebook, right in your face.

      Google blocking the ads? That would be the first. Good concept, not so sure if it'll happen though. Wanna clean browsing on mobile? Get rid of the Chrome browser and go with someone else. I was amazed how much difference that made.

              Of course they want to prevent these. They could cover the view of any of the AdXXXXX served by Google!. Our overlords only want to "take care" of us... ;)

                I bet nobody knows what's wastes the most performance, bandwidth and battery life: it's the HTML5 media.

                Flash is much better than HTML5, because you can use click-to-play blocking for flash media. But you CAN NOT block the HTML5 media. HTML5 videos every time on every site automatically get downloaded and start playing automatically. So I don't understand the hype about HTML5. It significantly ruins the user experience. At least Firefox for Android has about:config page where you can disable the HTML5 player by setting the media.webm.enabled preference to fase.

                  Ublock Origin is the only one adblocker for Android where you have 100% the same options, features and customizability as the desktop version.

                          You don't have to be rooted or anything else, it filters your internet connection and blocks all the crap coming through. I saw loads of crap on iPhones, Macs, Windows PCs and Android phones/tablets.
                          Adguard can block them all.

                            Ads should not bet too frequent otherwise they may be helpful. but also the on/off button should have to be present.

Google makes a lot of revenue for ads. And that's why they want to make ads more tolerable, to make them more sustainable and reduce the demand for ad blockers.

                                      My PC has adblock enabled, and since the day I bought it, I've had zero AntiVirus applications on it. To this day I've never had to face malware related problems. I sincerely hope Google finds a way to enable extension support in the Mobile Chrome app.
