I work for Orange UK and the 9780 is due to come out next week on our system (week 43). It was posted on our internal coming soon page a few weeks ago so it is not a rumour!

hahaha who would honestly in 2010 buy this the rim tower is falling down I mean imagine havin this on a 2 year contract. You'll be so outdated by then >.< . And the processor (chipset)is so weak reminds me of samsung back in the day the only phones (D600, D900 and U600) that could handle games as long they didn't exceed 300kb. same here with rim I hate to be the boogie man but this is reality as it stands now: http://online.wsj.com/article/..._LEFTTopNews

Anonymous, 21 Oct 2010lol, look at these blackberry haters, so what if its the sa... moreListen mate, so you think you are sort of "rich" cause you can buy a Blackberyy once a year? That actually makes you poor. Rich is when you can splash out a new car every year. Please come here to Sweden and walk around telling people that you think you financially set casue you can afford a Blackberry phone, people will tell you to go to the welfare office.
I have a Blackberry 9700, but i'm tired of waiting for a decent update. What the hell is 9780?! Any normal person knows that the increase in RAM for a phone of this user prefference is compeletely useless and does sh*t all for the normal Blackberry user unless you tend to watch high res videos alot.
I mean with it hurt RIm to make the phone a little sleeker and better looking. The 9700 design and thickness was alright last year, but how the hell did RIM manage to make it that thick with so much weak hardware is beyond belief.
I wish RIM would enter the new decade like everbody else, it's like their hardware and software is stuck in 2006-2007 or something.
I will never go iPhone, cause i can't everything that Apple iRipoff Inc stand for. I have HTC HD2 as well so i might upgrade to a new HTC, unless RIM can justify their existence for me and do some proper innovation instead releasing 2007 over and over and over agaian.

i bet most of u haters are from a third world eastern european country and are probably still using a nokia 1100 or something. get a life and a decent phone

It sports the same processor as before. I know the increased RAM was a must for OS6 but its a shame they didn't give it a 1ghz processor. They could have probably even made it slightly more power efficient. I think I will buy this. Previously owned the 9700 and was very pleased with the keyboard. I think they keyboard and the emailing service are the only things USP for me. In terms of operating system they are proving to be quite laid back..and are not very aggressive when considering their competitors.
I think they have some really good handsets lining up using QNX so they are just trying to milk the cash cow as long as possible.

What is it? Is it a bird? Is it plane? Is it superman? No.. it's just the same old Blackberry 9700, but this time it's "new" cause they changed a zero and replaced it with an eight in the name, and thus is "new". No go out and get one you Zombieberries, RIM commands you! It's your duty is a fan to get ripped of.

The looks are the same, the feel is the same, its not "Bold" but there is a reason for that, Blackberry is the #1 undisputed business mobile, and businesses do not want to spend money on a new phone that their employees will have a learning "Curve", so sure it is not gonna be a "Torch" in the world of ingenuity, or cause a "Storm" in the mobile world.
But what this phone does, it does well, you will be hard pushed to find a "Pearl" of a phone like this.

Ughh still using that ugly outdated design???
I can't believe people typing in that tiny keypad,so happy living with that retro menu like win98,watching video from that mini display and even call that boring interface great, even chinese featured phones crippled BB without a BIS.
BB should learn more from iOS or even Android about ease of use and friendly eye-catching UI,better yet BB should vanish from this world.

This 9780 have the same aesthetics as the 9700. Blackberry need a revamp their designs. It's almost hard to differentiate one Blackberry from the next. The features, the looks the overall experience with Blackberry is always the same. It's just monotonous. What they really need to do is to reconstruct their phones so that it can make calls and use data services on a low battery. That turns me off the most as an emergency can happen anytime.
